Georgetown will not be competing in the spring of 21. Not surprised. I don’t see a Tourney this year . I give it a 20% chance of happening and that’s generous. I’ve been wondering if schools will delay return of students given the vaccine is a 2 dose application. Do they require students to have the vaccines before returning or will the colleges get them back and manage the vaccine doses on campus?

My daughters school has already said they will be managing the doses on campus, but I am sure this will vary by school.

Less than 1 percent of college-aged Americans will be eligible to receive the vaccine before February. Probably before March even. That's not a realistic scenario for the spring semester.

I’ve not seen the timeline in terms of vaccine order. If it’s that late then I’m even more skeptical that vb will have a season in the spring. The Big12 and Sun Belt gambled and it paid off even if no tourney. Too bad SEC and ACC didn’t go full boat but at least they had a partial “season”. Sucks for the seniors mostly....

I guess I just disagree. This has come at us as pretty significant waves. I think there is reason to believe that December-January will be the worst of it and future waves will become more and more mild. The midwest has already peaked during this wave and cases are dropping. As we go forward in the spring, more and more people will be vaccinated, more and more people will be previously infected and have some level of immunity, and as it gets warmer, indoor gatherings will decrease. I think there will be a lot of cancellations in January. Fewer in February. Fewer in March. And we'll be in pretty good shape for the NCAA tourney in April.

My daughters school has already said they will be managing the doses on campus, but I am sure this will vary by school. Will athletes be required to take it?

I have not heard anything specific to athletes, but they are currently looking at the legality of requiring it to live on campus, since there is an on-line option.
