And here I thought Jelinsky was among a handful of the worst Survivor players of all time - and now Bhanu blows everyone in Survivor history out of the water.
A player like Bhanu absolutely ruins the show for me. I can take the worst player of all time - but he is by far the worst player to have to watch. And this entire episode was about him. Yikes! And now he survives.
Venus and Hunter were my two favorite players after the first episode. The combination of his physical strength and her ability at puzzles was going to make that team close to unbeatable in challenges (they still have won every challenge so far). Now we learn that Hunter is secretly going to be very good at puzzles and fully prepared for just about any challenge. I love this kind of stuff for Survivor - and now he is my favorite player. And given his strength - he appears to be playing a secret game as far as his other skills - otherwise he would have the normal target that makes it almost impossible for a guy like him to ever win. And then his back story was very interesting to me - very smart guy that was going to medical school, but decided that he likes teaching way more than financial gold down the road, that he nixed his medical future to be a teacher because that is what he loves.
And as much as I want to root for Venus - some of her actions and comments are making a bit more difficult (I am still rooting for her as of now). The whole - you rolled the wheel over my toe episode was a bit too much. And then not being able to explain what she was thinking with her 'partner' wasn't good social play.

This is Survivor-adjacent, but here's Queen Sandra breaking down her game on The Traitors. I'm guessing she talks some Survivor as well.

Well, this episode was better than the last one, I guess. Mercifully, we no longer have to watch Bhanu. And Venus stays safe another week.

I need a swap or a merge or something. It's boring to watch one team lose every week, especially because it's become a staple of the new era. I feel like the no food and keeping the flint plays a huge part in that. The purple tribe looked exhausted the whole immunity challenge, and I don't like how the reward they won was useless because they didn't have flint.
Also, the last twenty minutes of the show was pointless since there was no way Bhanu wasn't going home, and he couldn't even use the shot in the dark in case there was some suspense.
Some things I did like: Jem hiding the beware advantage and the whole tribe trying to dig up a chest that wasn't there. Moriah trying to jump. Tevin's preparing the fish like his dad taught him. Charlie yelling "Taylor Swift" as he jumped off the platform (jk that was cringe, but I can't stop imagining someone from the CBS legal team having to go through everything Charlie says to make sure it's not a phrase Taylor Swift has copyrighted and that alone makes me laugh)

I forgot to mention it earlier, but I imagine Danny McCray spitting out his drink when Moriah asserted that, "Jeff will never lie to you."

I have mixed feelings on this episode. Objectively, it was probably the most entertaining since the legendary Jelinsky episode. But I didn't want Jem to go home. She was the only entertaining presence on that modern day La Mina tribe. I mean, she has no one to blame but herself, but still.

Oh, also, that put the seasons in order challenge is the first one that I can confidently say I would ace. I've only seen each season once and only rewatched a handful of my favorites, but I have a good memory. I can name all the seasons and all the winners in chronological order.

I'm ready for the merge (fake-merge, whatever). Looks like the orange tribe girls are going to make it messy, and I'm here for it.

I had to step away once he started the challenge - and now only know that he didn't get it right and really wasn't close. But for me - I remember the first 40 seasons by their number, not by the name of the season. If someone tells me it was the Tocan (or whatever) - I wouldn't have a clue. Tell me it was season 26 - then I know who won. As for the plot lines for me. Hunter is my favorite player. He has dominated every challenge - and has mostly obscured his puzzle solving skills and other stuff. Still - he has a major target on his back for sure. The Charlie/Maria alliance (I think it is Maria) intrigues me - as my favorite strategy for Survivor or games like Survivor is the hidden alliance. I have only seen this work with 'The Mole' - and the circumstances of that game are different - but I find it to be highly effective if 2 people have this strong alliance throughout the game and no else knows about it. Potentially this is very powerful. So, I am hoping that their alliance is real - that they can keep it hidden post merge - and use the information to get to the end.

I don't really know how hidden Maria and Charlie would be. They're on the same starting tribe of six people. Denise and Malcolm already did this. In fact, if I remember correctly, I believe Charlie literally cited Denise and Malcolm as his inspiration for his alliance with Maria. As for Hunter, he's fine. Citing Tyson as his favorite player was a major red flag for me, but I'll give him a pass since he largely kept Venus safe up to this point with his challenge prowess. Speaking of which, Venus telling Hunter to his face that he's the biggest threat but she won't target him at the merge because he's her shield was hilarious.

So Maria and Charlie would be even less hidden than Denise and Malcolm were.

Well, Venus did her best to get herself voted out, but the majority wisely took out a Siga in Moriah instead. Venus just needs to survive one more episode to ensure that she's on the jury. She has the potential to be the next Eliza/Courtney/Corinne in terms of jury reactions.
Edit: I forgot Sarah. She had amazing jury reactions to Tony and Kass in Cagayan.
