Her game play is a bit too overt for me. At first it felt like her original tribe disliked her because she’s “pretty”. She’s a shield in the sense that her enemies think she’s so unlikable she won’t win jury votes in the end so we can wait to get her out/ she has no allies so there’s always a stronger target than her but enough discourse and animosity to mislead where the actual votes are going. I think she could’ve played the soda vote accusation smarter but i also tire of kumbaya bs. My faves are Tim and weirdly Liz. Don’t really like Tevin or Soda. I enjoy Q’s gameplay but his bedside manner is going to get him voted out. Is Venus a shield? I'd love for her to win, but I just don't see it happening. She reminds me a lot of Eliza in Vanuatu who had absolutely zero chance to win the game against anyone except maybe Twila, though I think she loses that one as well. Venus is still an icon either way. It would be so fun if Venus makes it to the end and is like "y'all could've voted me out, but didn't. AND all the people I wanted to go left." Could be a winning argument! I don't see it happening, but I also spent all of S42 thinking "I want Maryanne to win, but no way she wins." So anything is possible!

So I just looked up the cast list for The Challenge Season 40, and it is loaded. Maybe their best cast ever. Michele will be representing Survivor. One note is that list has 39 players, but there are actually 40. Jordan, who is arguably the GOAT of The Challenge, joined a day later due to another commitment. I think I want to watch this even though I don't have the backstory from watching previous seasons. I keep seeing talk about the season, and 40 players is so cool. This is basically how I got into Survivor in the first place. My family and I watched Australian Outback when it first aired, but then I never watched a season again until I heard about Winners at War. The all-winners format seemed really interesting, so I watched it, and then I went back and watched the rest.

Oh, also, I know I keep recommending it, but there's a lot of overlap between The Challenge: World Championship and Season 40 (Battle of the Eras). 10 of the MTV players from World Championship are on 40. Some of them (Bananas, Tori, Jonna) you may have already seen if you watched USA 2. And speaking of USA 2, some of the players from that season that weren't on World Championship (Cory, Amanda, Josh, Paulie--Michele too, but you already know her) are on 40. Also, Kyland from USA 1 is on 40, as he is coming off a very strong run on Season 39 in which he won eliminations against multiple champions. And you're also familiar with CT from his run on The Traitors (thankfully, you don't have to worry about seeing Trishelle on this season). So by my count, if you've watched World Championship and USA 1 and 2, you'd be familiar with 17 of the 40 players, which is over 40 percent of the cast.

Chaos Q is something else. This season has been so weird in its structure. It had an all-time great premiere with Jelinsky. It then became borderline unwatchable over the next three episodes as Bhanu dominated the screentime. And it's been quite entertaining and chaotic ever since.

Lol, Jelinsky calling out the doubters like the legend that he is.

I'm not sure what to say about this season. But the cast is chaotic and petty, and that's refreshing after so many seasons of over-the-top sentimentality.
Also, why do they keep doing unhinged close-ups of Charlie? Like, what was that slow-mo of him during the immunity challenge?

Hunter with one of the worst idol holds in Survivor history. Just brutal. But it kept Q around for another week, so I'm happy.

But that was one of the most exciting votes we've had in a long time. I wonder what Q thought was going to happen at the vote, since he voted Ben. It's funny, at the beginning of last week's episode, I was so ready for Q to be gone and now I'm here for all his chaos. Also, if Venus could make Final 3 with Q and Liz, could she win? People don't like Q's game and Liz's whole story has been people not giving her credit. I doubt that Final 3 will happen, but boy would it be entertaining.

Oh, also, Ben yelling at Jeff "you are such a scorpio" kills me 😂

I think Liz would probably win at this point, but there's still time for Q or Venus to make a recovery or for Liz to play even more poorly than they have. It could be an old-school Final Tribal Council where the jury dislikes all three of the finalists. It's been a while since that's happened. Off the top of my head, I think we'd have to go back to the final three of Tyson, Gervase and Monica in Blood v. Water.

Also, it's funny to look back on that sweat challenge that featured two of the three legends of this season in Q and Jelinsky (the other one is Venus).

All 3 think they're masterminds and none of the jury agrees. Also, I love the idea of all the "goats" making it to the end. (I don't know if people see Liz as a goat. She seems to be included in discussions, but still kind of an afterthought.) I hated the pre-merge, but this post-merge has been great.

It is an obvious after the fact mistake to get sent home with an idol.
But what was Hunter thinking? He was a major challenge threat who everyone knew had an idol. There is just no way they could keep him around with an idol. I guess they could have taken out Q with a second vote once the idol was flushed, but way too risky.
Then we get to the decision to tell people he had an idol. In his mind - the Q move the week before had done great damage to his game. He essentially was left with no allies. He used knowledge of his idol to play a long game and forge a new alliance. Of course that failed - and was doomed. I am guessing he was thinking his best chance was having an idol to protect him one time when he doesn't win a challenge. Probably a long shot to get to the end even with one idol (and win the rest of the challenges) - and basically no chance to win out the rest if he had used the idol here. Losing to Charlie in that challenge was very damaging to him.
