So those states that have postponed what are the new dates for competition and what things are being modified for Covid protocols. Right now they are giving a start date of March 1st. The end date seems a bit up in the air, because they will start to overlap with the regular Spring season now, but they did mention ending on May 8th(NY)

I've noticed that a number of Ohio HSs have knocked their "senior night" out early in the season. They must be operating as though the season could get cancelled abruptly. I would say that's a wise precaution to ensure that the seniors do get their senior night.

Dublin Coffman (OH) just had their 155 game Conference win streak snapped by Olentangy Liberty. The steak dates back to 2007, back before the seniors were even in Kindergarten.

Texas big schools scrimmaged tonight! Games start Tuesday! I'm still not on board with this season, but I went to a scrimmage because they are going to play whether I like it or not. It went as well as designed by the UIL. All fans wore masks and spread out in the bleachers (I sat WAY in the back so no one would breathe on me). All tickets had to be requested by players in advance to ensure a limited attendance. There were separate entrances to the gym for players and fans. Players were very good about putting on their masks when they left the court. My only real complaint is that the Refs were not wearing masks and using regular whistles instead of hand whistles. But I suppose if you're letting the girls be in each other's faces at the net, you might as well let the refs do their thing.

Being a ref I can tell you that as R1 I typically don’t use a mask unless captains come to talk to me and or R2 comes over. As R2 being at bench area and table side I wear a mask during the entire time. Electronic whistles aren’t an end all be all and if you can even find them. Much easier to use the whistle under a mask. As R1 I am not within 6 ft of anyone normally.

Tbh, I didn't even look to see if the R1 was wearing a mask. I only know that the R2 never did and I was surprised because of her proximity to the table and the coaches. She also took breaks between sets and spoke with people in the bleachers without a mask. That stuck in my mind as a no-no and probably colored my judgment. So there were no line judges and it was a bit of a problem. Are there line judges for district games in Texas this year?

Scrimmages are unpaid for referees Now that said a fee may be five to the chapter of officials doing the scrimmage and they can use the money however they want but if not enough officials for regular matches and then scrimmages I doubt they had enough to use line judges also.

How many states roll out the cheerleaders for VB games?
Ohio didn't, but Utah does.

IL has updated it's return to play guidelines. VB still set to begin 2.15.21. Big items on yesterdays meeting as I see it are: No dual participation bylaw will stay in place & they removed restriction on 2 games/meets a week for the fall sports that ARE happening now. Which to me shows they are at least willing and able to adjust as they go and as more information and details develop. WCPL looks like seeding events may start as early as 12.5 (state governance allowing obviously), with HS dates ending 2.7.21. This should allow for full club season and bid determinations prior to HS season starting AND still give league teams ability to play in presidents day tournaments (NIT/St. Louis). Windy City Qualifier will be interesting though as it is *tentatively* set for 4.2-4.4, but HS season is not over in IL till 5.1.21. Guessing if dual participation is not allowed, will WCQ be moved to accommodate HS season? www.ihsa.org/News-Media/Announcements/ihsa-board-updates-return-to-activities-guidelines-waives-two-game-per-week-limit-lengthens-summer-season

Opening day for most of the bigger Texas schools. Still a handful delayed across the state.

Every single qualifier is within IL spring HS season. The only thing they could go to right now is TC and nationals. IL has updated it's return to play guidelines. VB still set to begin 2.15.21. Windy City Qualifier is listed as *tentative* and I would imagine they move earlier or later given that about 18% of teams from 15-17 in the 2019 qualifier were from IL. If not, lots of IL teams will be in Orlando in June!

Not a good situation for Illinois volleyball players no matter how you look at it.
For 18's, most USAV qualifiers are prior to the current February 15th IHSA start date, however, the USAV national tournament is set for April 23-25th, which is during the HS season. For 15-17's most all the qualifiers fall during the February 15th through May 1st time frame, however, the national tournament will be after. Players will be forced to choose in all age groups.
IHSA has petitioned the governors office to regain control of the decision on when to restart fall sports with the intent to restart sooner.
Given only a dozen or so states have deferred High School to next year, I'm not sure if USAV would be willing to change the qualifier or national dates. Most Illinois clubs have suggested that they would not want to put the players in a situation in which they have to choose and would therefore pause the club season during the February 15th through May 1st period.
This would then leave AAU's as the only option for Illinois club teams.
