Not a full season. Football is playing 6 games for instance.
What I don't understand is that absolutely nothing has changed. Is this decision based solely on loud parents?

Was thinking, maybe cases are moderate/declining, but that is not the case in MN. Good news in MN is testing is seems to be extensive and climbing AND positivity rate is pretty low at 4.4% rolling 7 day average. Maybe the thinking is with more testing and low positivity rates they have better handle on it than they did a month ago? My contention is if widespread rapid result testing was/is available, and other mitigation practices (masks/crowd limits/distancing/etc.) are in place and enforced, AND positivity rates are acceptable, why not?

Because I do not think that is why. I think it's because football parents complained and they couldn't start football without also starting volleyball. Hard to tell which sport is more risky. You would think football, but at least it is outdoors.
The other issue is that many kids switched to a sport they COULD participate (relatively) safely in. Now what?

Track and field? Maybe swimming? There does not seem to be a uniform policy regarding high school sports across the US.

Maybe they based it on seeing surrounding States already starting volleyball without much controversy. Between that and Big Ten Football restarting in the fall, oh and the 20,000 rabid supporters of the Let Them Play MN Facebook site. I’m sure there were a lot of factors.

We are seriously considering not allowing our daughter to participate -- and that would be a really tough decision in terms of family harmony.

Did you sit out the Fall club volleyball that was going on?

Yes. Partly because it would have been too much (she's swimming) and partly because we aren't convinced it is safe. There are/were other extenuating factors (like me being at high risk), but those were the main ones.

Completely understandable. I’m hoping that this can go without major incident of course. What I don’t get is where the MSHSL is coming from. They seemed dead set against it and now do this turnaround. Another example of leadership in the State doing a flip-flop.(IMO)

On the club side, postponing events 6/7 months out already? It was during the new college season anyway, will be a very interesting season for recruiting. http://instagram.com/p/CFde-oHsUmp

Dublin Scioto is off to a 13-0 start, sweeping the Battle of Hard Rd vs Worthington Kilbourne, who typically wins their division. They also get a rare chance at a city title when they step out of division in order to play Dublin Coffman, who is typically one of the top teams in the State, but is having a down year. A lot of their success can be attributed to breakout freshman Alec Rothe.

Scioto has upended Coffman as the top team in Dublin Ohio, for perhaps the first time ever. But at least 15 years or so.
