V.LEAGUE 1 already announced their 2020-2021 schedule.
Format: One League of 12 teams, no more conferences. 22 matches in total (2x vs all opponents)
Regular season: October 17, 2020 - February 14, 2021 Participating Teams: (1) JT Marvelous (2) Okayama Seagulls (3) Saitama Ageo Medics (4) Denso Airybees (5) Toyota Autobody Queenseis (6) Toray Arrows (7) NEC Red Rockets (8) SAGA Hisamitsu Springs (9) Hitachi Rivale (10) PFU Bluecats (11) Kurobe AquaFairies (12) Victorina Himeji
Final round will be broken into 3 4-team pools (1-4, 5-8, 9-12). Depending on the results of the V/Regular Round, the V/Final Stage (final ranking decision match) will be held in 3 groups, 1st-4th, 5th-8th, and 9th-12th. On the first day, the top team and the bottom team in the group will be played, and the next highest team and the next team will be played. On the second day, the losing teams from the first day of the match will be played against each other, and the winning teams from the first day will be played against each other. 1st through 4th is the real SF/F battle. 5th-8th is for mid-level bragging rights, and 9th-12th is about who will play Brilliant Aries and Gumma Bank.
Semifinals: Saturday, Feb. 20,
Finals: Sunday, Feb. 21.
AND! There will also be a Japan Cup aside from the V.League. Interesting. V-Cup is scheduled to start February 27: "Japanese national team candidates will not participate in this tournament, we are expecting the appearance of the new heroine of the next Tokyo Olympics, mainly young players". Not so sure if foreigners will play here.
-- Defending Champions: JT Marvelous (2019/20) Reigning MVP: Andrea Drews (JT)

Yep, I get stopped multiple times during my trips to Asia, especially Japan, for photos. They're always so cute and shy when they ask. I'm only 6'1" with blonde hair ... I tower over the Japanese so I can only imagine the reception KP will have... she is basically going to be a Goddess to them.

Based on past performance over the last few seasons, the fight for the championship would come down to either JT Marvelous or Hisamitsu Springs. Hisamitsu lost Shinnabe, the perennial best passer for Japan. They will get a boost with Nootsara/Pornpun and Akinradewo (?) though. JT’s championship experience will do them favors for this upcoming season. All their starters are coming back. Of the seven starters, only their MH2 seems to be the “up-in-the-air” position last season with Kaewkalaya 🇹🇭 coming in for when Ogawa struggles. This year they are rumored to acquire 6’1” Thai MB Thatdao who is one of their NT mainstays so that’s a huge upgrade. Not to mention reigning Best Setter Momii (who is showing promise as a future NT setter) and Best Libero Kobata. IMO, team to beat is still JT but teams like Saitama and Hisamitsu will really challenge them. Darkhorse: Toyota.

More transfer news!
Saitama Ageo has a new Brazilian coach and a few added personnel. Santiago (6’5”, MB, PHI) will be returning for them but their Tall Blond Western Swinger™ is still to be known (Plummer?).
Hitachi just updated their member page and Hannah Tapp is on it. She most likely returns.
Sinead Jack (6’3”, MB, TTO) and Tran Thi Than Thuy (6’3”,OH, VIE) have resigned from Denso. This is also one of the possible teams Plummer will be part of.

How many foreigners are allowed on the court in this league? 1 from anywhere else, 1 from SEA. Usually teams would go for only 1 western import but other teams utilize that SEA allotment. 1 team used local players only last season but managed to get 2nd place, beating those with an “import”.

And Nootsara has proven herself with Fenerbahçe, she has a lot of valuable experience playing in the top leagues. Although at 34, she may be going downhill now in performance.
