Hey saw post in twitter and other blogs. Shainah Joseph from Ncaa will also play in japan. I know she is not american but wondering how she performed in NCAA. She rode the bench behind an All American for three years at Florida before finally getting a chance her senior year. High jumper and can hit a heavy ball, but is pretty inconsistent. Hoping her Japanese team can help her with those consistency issues. I agree. I really had high hopes for her coming out of college. I'd argue one of the best OPPs to come out of the NCAA that year. But either her choices or her agent sucks because she's been misstepping horribly internationally and isn't developing like she can be... I hope Japan is her turn around. If she gets right, Canada enters the international volleyball conversation!!!

Joseph is confirmed for Saitama. IMO, she’s the weakest westerner.

Joseph has always been overrated. Who really talks about her?? That's fair lol I just mean when talking about her senior season at Florida. And how it would translate to the CNT and pro ball

Canada also needs much more than Joseph (even playing very well) to enter the “international volleyball conversation.”

Kiera Van Ryk (OPP from Canada) has crazy potential in my opinion. I think we will hear a lot from her in the future

Could they use more depth, for sure. but I think their leading team isn't too shabby. Not to the levels of USA, China, Italy but its a start.

I could see them surpassing the likes of Thailand, South Korea once KYK retires, possibly Belgium maybe even Puerto Rice and Argentina next cycle. They have a good mix of players that has potential with the right coaching hopefully one that sticks around for the long run, we've all seen programs struggle when coaching changes often.

Canada needs Van Ryk or Gray to pass well and things could get much better.
If Canada had Bailey and or a better setting situation could have easily beaten Puerto Rico in the Olympic Qualifier.
I think Mexico might have some say too though. They have great young talent.

CNT setter Brie Joy King will be playing her second pro season with Althletes Unlimited In Nashville with @auprosports (played in Germany last year)Van Ryk is in Poland and was MVP in first weekend of play, Gray for Busto in Italy, Maglio, Cross, (Gorrell) in Turkey...so first line doing alright... Van Buskirk in France... They need a libero too.
