Well, they had the scandal with reports of the coach treating players poorly. Bennett definitely went pro; this is the first I am hearing of Brown not being there.

Yeah I read about the scandal, which probably explains a few of their freshmen from last year not returning, but Brown was on the roster until just recently. So starting line up looks possibly like:
OH: Vernon/Tkachenko
OPP: Goings
MB: Schell and Mcdonald/Svetnik depending on who is stronger/ready.
S: Szulczewski. If 6/2 then Lopez
L: Massey DS/serve sub Villaluz/Turner
Buckner the only other back up hitter, although Szulczewski played in a modified 6/2 setter/hitter position in club/HS, so they could use that option too, and Villaluz is listed as possible back up setter in that case.
Not alot of options if players get injured, sick, or are struggling!

Anyone know how good the Eastern Europeans are? OSU picked up the Rutgers assistant from Ukraine.

Regarding Pac 12 OSU team. Their roster has shrunk this year. What happened to Chloe Brown not being on the roster? Looks like Haylie Bennett graduate and went pro. They are quite short on Outside hitters now. Coach v Player drama. |

Oregon State had close sets with Colorado, but they really struggled at the pins. Tkachenko had seven kills and 14! errors. Goings also only hit .033. Shining spots were frehsmen McDonald and Szulczewski, and defense was pretty good too. They should just go with a 5-1 with Szulczewski setting. I wonder why Buckner nor Vernon didn't play. They will need another OH than just Goings and Tkachenko to do any better.

Oregon State showed promise today getting a set off of Colorado. Again McDonald and Szulczewski were bright spots. Hopefully Buckner or Vernon recover soon to assist them with depth on the pins.

I watched that match and commented more than once that McDonald looked really good, especially on the slide. Colorado didn't seem ready to handle that. |
