This is a thread over on the men's indoor.
volleytalk.proboards.com/thread/83249/who-next-young-americans-usmntA good list of who beach should be looking to snipe.
A couple of the college kids that I know of that have played some beach already with decent (Open) finishes:
Heath Hughes and Brett Wildman
there is a Dvorak in there too.
Could Worsley be a Taylor type small player?
----------------------------------------------------------------------
Was listening to 5:1 podcast and they mentioned that we have a gap in our national team after the this potentially medal winning team.
Who are the players in college who'll make that jump?
TJ should be a fixture for 2024, but a lot can happen.
Edit: Added the players named in the upcoming posts:
Opposites:
Garo Barsemian - UC- Irvine 6'6" OH/OPP Redshirt Freshmen
Randy DeWeese 6'6" - UCSB - Senior, did a great job as a freshmen. Listed as a setter on team site. He looks older than a sophomore..
Jaylen Jasper - 6'7" Stanford - Senior - hope he's working on his foreign language skills.
Raymond Barsemian - 6'6" Concordia - I seem to remember him having a big game against BYU last year. Older brother of Garo.
Ben Patch - 6'9" BYU now with Berlin Recycling was crushing it last season. I think he's been hurt this year a few times.
Jake Hanes - 6'10" Ohio State, now playing in France with Arago de Sete.
Outside:
Joel Schneidmiller 6'6" UC Irvine.. oh look another player from Irvine. Senior. Has been playing college since 1998 it seems.
Cole Schlothauer (that's too hard to spell)6'5" Loyola, Redshirt Sophomore - had the most kills by a Loyola freshmen since Jaeshke
Ryan Coenen - 6'9" Lewis - Senior -
Dave Wieczorek - 6'8" Pepperdine and now in Germany with TSV Herrsching,
Brett Wildman 6'5" Penn State Junior
Francesco Sani 6'8" UC Irvine - freshman.. oh look, the rich get richer. Kid has an Italian passport, and the Italian are desperate for OH's too.
Kevin Lamp 6'6" Stanford - Sophomore (even played a set at setter for Stanford)
Will Rotman 6'6" Stanford - Sophomore
Alex Knight - 6'6" UCLA Sophomore
Clarke Godbold - 6'5" Long Beach Freshman , nation's top recruit
Jerod Nelson 6'7" Princeton Junior -
Middles:
George Huhmann - playing for Knack Roeselaare in Belgium, top 2 teams in league, already getting champions league games.
Scott Stadick - UC Irvine - 7' - Grad student - should be on his way to Europe for next season
Tyler Mitchem - Lewis -6'11" Redshirt Senior - I think this kid is our next elite middle.
Setters:
Kevin Kauling 6'8" Lewis - Sophomore - lots of potential. Great size.
Casey McGarry - 6'0" - UCSB - Junior - as with all undersized setters, blocking will be an issue at the top level, but Toniuiti for France has won and I don't know if he is really 6'.
Bryce Dvorak - 6'4" - Pepperdine, Freshmen - has volleyball wins in his genes.
Heath Hughes - 6'7" Grand Canyon - The Lopes getting some love. One of the few guys on the list that I was able to see in person -Grow the Game Challenge in Nashville area.
Joe Worsley - 6'1" Hawaii, but playing in Germany and doing pretty good with Friedrichshafen. I'll leave it to Blair to add to this one. Also saw him play in Nashville.
Garrett Zoig - 6'3" Loyola - Senior - seems he has been playing forever.
Libero:
Gage Worsley - Hawaii, 6'1" Junior - saw him play in Nashville area too.
Cole Pender 6'2" UCLA Redshirt Junior
