Thanks for posting, Avid, I noticed this too. If Jordan likes coaching and is good at it, that will be good for volleyball. She's bigger than Nebraska volleyball though, and the sport may benefit more if she ends up somewhere besides Lincoln. She seems like a midwest or Cali girl but ACC or SEC would be great ....Skinner, Banwarth, Larson tapping what seems like a rich, burgeoning talent pool could broaden the legitimate candidates for national titles going forward. Does she want that kind of grind though? Heck she could end up working for USA Volleyball, which would be fine, but impactful in a different way. She'd probably stay on the west coast because of Dave's job. She'd need to be offered a big job to take Dave as the 1AC and I'm not sure an upper-tier B1G or Pac school will just hire her outright considering the experience level. It would be unlikely, imo.

Maybe she takes the Kayla Banwarth route - mentors under a coach like Cook, then moves on/up when she's learned the ropes.

The only way I see Jordan coming back to Nebraska is if her soon to be husband (I think they are engaged if I remember correctly) has a job here, if or when a Men's VB team gets started in Nebraska. I could see him and Jordan work as a HC/AC and build up a team. I know there was talk about UNO not sure if that is still a possible. Maybe she will be a VC for David at Pepperdine? Does she still want to play but just here in the states? Athlete's Unlimited?

Do you mean an incredible job in the best conference in volleyball may not be offered to a coach with zero experience? She’s a millionaire coming off a grinding career, you think she’s gonna jump into a meat grinding coaching job??

With all these elite athletes, can Nebraska break the Badger curse?

She has all the qualities for an excellent D1 coach: strong leadership skills, excellent volleyball and skills knowledge, super competitive, tactically savvy, etc. However, IMO it would be to her long term advantage to start as an assistant coach at a high level D1 program to learn administrative and recruiting duties (including running clinics so important to recruiting). She should have no problem landing such an assistant coaching job. To clarify, just my opinion. Edit: she knows what is best for her. So if she pursues a head coach job immediately, I acknowledge my opinion was wrong.

I remember that around the time her Nebraska jersey was retired, she said in an interview that she was interested in coaching after her retirement from competitive volleyball.

With all these elite athletes, can Nebraska break the Badger curse? What curse is that? 0-5 since 2017. 3-15 in sets.

My guess is that Cook cares quite a bit about Wisconsin’s recent dominance of his squad.

im sure Cook and co. could care less. He has a title and championship match appearance in that time span. They very much care. You always care if you’re a competitor. We all know if Nebraska did beat Wisconsin we would get those “you know, all three of my prior years here we just couldn’t put it together to beat them, so to get that win in my senior season really meant a lot” vignettes that always happen in those scenarios. Does it mentally affect them? No, probably not. But you’re at the very least well aware when you have an opponent in front of you that you can’t seem to shake. They only care insofar as winning a conference and national championship. That's all the team ever talks about each year. Wisconsin has been the primary competitor lately, before that, Penn State, and it'll be someone else in the future.
