You may want to double check your math. Your numbers are nonsense. I know percentages can be hard. Which part did I get wrong? Most of it. If I just give you the answers you will never learn. But you may want to recheck your percentages.

Number of Covid deaths 589,207. 589,207 divided by 33 million = .017. What number is that as a percent? I'm NOT a mathematician but I thought that's how percentage is figured out. Anybody is free to correct me (preferably without being condescending) my ego isn't fragile.

That would give a (reported) CFR (case fatality ratio) of 1.8%
If you were just wanting to comment about the percentage of the total US population that has died because of cv19 infection, then it would be 0.18% (since as you noted, the reported cases are about 10% of the population).
Certainly, the actual number of infections in the country is some amount higher than reported. Are there deaths from cv19 that weren't reported? Probably more than zero, but guessing very few. If anything, some people want to claim that deaths reported as being from cv19 were overreported, but I also guess that was not a significant amount.

Just sayin. Back in the day at crossroads we parents argued statistics about things like hitting percentages and what number were most important in team success or mvp.

You did say "0.017%" in the post though, which causes the confusion. Without the % symbol, you'd be fine.

These figures would bring the percentage of people who have died from Covid to even LOWER than 1%

Thanks for the correction, like I said math (especially math notation) is not my strong suit. That being said, am I right in saying that roughly 1% of those who have gotten Covid have died?

easy, crando, gophers4life, BuckysHeat and anyone I might have missed;
Thank you for your patience and willingness to discuss POV's without letting it become juvenile. I really appreciated your inputs and corrections. None of what you said was quickly dismissed.

I really appreciated your inputs and corrections. None of what you said was quickly dismissed. I can certainly understand and appreciate viewpoints that differ from my own. I should know better than to try to convince others to join 'my side.' When looking at those numbers I will always look at the 589,207 and weigh it as much more important than whatever that tiny decimal is. I understand that there are other large numbers (traffic accidents, gun deaths, heart problems, etc) that are equally upsetting to look at, but if I could get another shot to do a tiny part to help each of those as well, I would. Doesn't mean I'm right, just the way I look at it.

What if, stay with me on this, what if had decided to have lived our lives as normal(ish) as possible, keeping in mind the certain part of the population who truly needed to be protected? Maybe we wouldn't have folded businesses, or have a large amount of people unemployed, or kids falling behind in school, or worse than that see the number of teen suicides go up? They told us we needed to stay in our house for two weeks, then it was the necessity of mask use, now it's that the vaccine is the answer. THEN they say that you should probably still wear a mask even if you've HAD the shots. Can you blame some people for being jaded, weary, and wary? What if we had decided to have lived our lives as normal(ish) as possible? Oh, you mean the way that India did after it thought that it had COVID beaten? How's that going? www.cnn.com/2021/04/29/india/india-covid-deaths-crematoriums-intl-hnk-dst/index.html. Or maybe you want to call it the Brazil strategy? Let's see how that's working. www.npr.org/sections/coronavirus-live-updates/2021/04/29/992243462/brazil-covid-19-deaths-top-400-000-amid-fears-of-worsening-crisis.

It's pretty clear that authoritarian leaders who told their country to just ignore COVID and go about their usual business had abysmal records of death.
