Public/fan support is such a welcomed boost of wind in the sails for an injured athlete. Such is usually the case with injuries caught on film (and replayed in slo-mo) for all to see. It's so good to see athletes, coaches and fans from across the sport reach out in support of an injured athlete. What I don't get is the secrecy when it's an injury not visible to the public (e.g., hypothetically of course, broken vertebrae, torn hip labrum(s), torn patellar tendon(s), etc.) Injuries that clearly affect ability to perform at 100%, but hey let's not tell anyone, you're forbidden to talk about it, let's just let the rumors fly, commentators know, but pretend to not as they have been instructed. So the stats drop, the mental/psych game tanks, you just shut up and play injured, never really healing, never allowed to return to fully healthy. Little to no support emotionally or mentally because your use has waned and the trainers are weary of you. I don't get it, never will. No injury is welcomed, but if it did come, I would prefer the rush of support from every direction over the latter. It is interesting how it is all so âhush hushâ, particularly for womenâs sports. Watch any football/basketball/baseball game and if thereâs an injury the public usually knows the details within 24 hours (sometimes during the game itself). Thereâs even weekly reports on how an injured athlete from a menâs team is doing and the outlook for upcoming games with likelihood of playing time or not. I never have understood it either, I wish it could be treated the same across the board no matter the sport.

I'm very fond of Stucky from her work on USA teams. She's a treasure. This is a tough thing for her to endure. I hope she gets an excellent surgeon and events start breaking better for her. She has a long rehab road ahead of her, and will need to be very patient and determined. As others have noted, these sorts of injuries are not a sure career ender anymore. There's reason to hope she can stage a comeback. In the meantime, she should also focus on school and get ahead in that area. Her many fans will try to cope with her. Fortunately UF is affiliated with Shands/UF Health which has a phenomenal orthopedic surgery and sports medicine program. She will be in good hands for sure

This is just awful for Florida - just when I thought they are going to be a top 3 team this season, and probably the best Florida team since Alhassan/Snyder back in 2017.
Hope Stucky recovers well!

Best wishes to Stucky! The Gators were on track for an amazing year. Hopefully Wise can create some magic for this team and figure out a way forward for.
Speedy recovery!

Thayer Hall was playing on one leg her senior season and now Alexis Stucky suffers a terrible injury.
Florida has suffered some serious set backs to their great players in the last 3 years. Thayer is still undergoing surgical procedures from her Florida injuries.

That match made me nauseous⌠& my heart canât take that all season.. auburn is a good team, but Florida had wayyyyy too many errors. Really need to clean it up. I love how AC has been stepping up with Hutson out. This year might be a struggle without Stucky..

Much needed confidence booster which I think will go a long way. Muff needed that win under her belt, and she/they got it vs. a very tough Auburn team on the road. The service errors were atrocious, and the play from Ellie and Sofia was way too inconsistent. Everyone needs to take a breath, play their role, and stop trying to overcompensate. Gravlee as a blocking sub and/or OH sub is a good idea. Would love to see Thomas get a shot at MB because lord knows the other two 'true' MBs are a struggle. Other option: Martin/AC OH, Dixon Opp.

2-0 to start SEC play is always great. I thought UGA and Auburn both were going to be tough tests (even if we had Stucky) so two 5 setters surprised me none. I'm just impressed by how we won.
Muff is doing great. She has 84 total assists or 8.4 assists/set in her first 2 D1 starts. Not too shabby, especially as we can only imagine she'll be earning a lot more assists as the connection with Martin improves. Got 6 kills tonight and they looked smooth, whether it was setter dumps or jousts. It looks like she can be actually offensive which is something we need. She also has 2 digs per set (good for 2nd on the team) and .7 blocks/set in these last 2 games.
Martin looked great in the first 2 sets and was even hitting great back row attacks and 00S attacks on the right. Didn't get a kill in the 3rd set, it's like Florida forgot she was there. Got back on track a bit in the 4th. Her and Muff are making progress in the right direction overall though.
The middles are...better than they have been, but that bar is low. Okammar handled a clutch overpass tonight! I was way more excited about that than I should have been. They are blocking well. Okammor has 1.70 blocks/set in her 2 SEC starts and the team had 2.90 blocks/set this weekend. We need to get Dixon more involved in the offense OOS maybe like UGA did with Fischer tonight throwing up high balls in the middle.
Our relatively undersized OHs have been going off. ACF led us against Auburn and Victoria turned around and did it against Georgia. We gotta stop talking about subbing them out. They are carrying this team while Martin/Muff figure out their connection.
ACF is hitting .230 for the season with 104 kills and Victoria is at .220 with 105 kills. Victoria is leading the team in kills (29), kills/set (3.22) and hitting efficiency (.264) through the first 2 conference matches. She's picking up where she left off in conference last season.
Passing hasn't been great, but I like the scrappiness of the defense. I agree with Whittemore's comments tonight that they are putting too much pressure on themselves to be perfect for Muff.

If she is available idk which outside you bench as both Victoria and AC have been on fire recently.

Rotation 1 is a head scratcher. Not sure why Martin isn't an option on the outside. She runs a 2 but the passing has been shaky so it typically goes out to AC, or it's a drift middle set and Martin gets blocked or hits wide. I think Sofia should be the L1 so she can swing Opp (she is effective there) and Martin is an outlet on the left. Agree she and Muff will get better, and Martin also is performing exactly how you'd expect a freshman to: human. She went off early, benefited by a great connection/relationship with Stucky. She does shaken up still, and teams are all over her. But, she will mature. Agree Dixon has to be more of a presence OOS and in general. And the back row trip need to calm down, stay in position, and stop over-compensating, as it's making them too error prone. Nice to see Mary seeming to enjoy this and letting them gel. A&M is another tough one, and Tennessee will be very tough to beat. But you never know...
