Think it's gonna go five. Don't really see it going any other way.

I think we’ve all been waiting for this since Hawaii beat BYU in 5 last year to split the series 1-1. The Gabi vs. Rado heavyweight championship haha. This should be the highest quality match we’ve had all year, but I wish it were on ESPN like the women’s national championship. Easiest way to “grow the game”

This match may go 4, but if Hawaii does not let up from the get go, this match will only go 3. Hawaii has the advantage in almost every category.
Serve/Receive = Hawaii Blocking = Hawaii Defense = Hawaii
Especially, when it comes to Serve/Receive, and Defense, BYU is not even close to Hawaii, in those departments.

BYU has better servers than Hawaii, and I think Worthington as libero has been highly underrated.
I think it comes down to matchups, and I think Gardini blocking Rado makes for a unique challenge for Rado, and Gabi hitting against the smaller outsides for Hawaii is an advantage in that department.
I expect BYU to commit on the middle early and often, and if de Brito Ferreira has the blocking night he had against Pepperdine, it could take Gasman out and force them to rely on the pins. Hawaii has strong pins that may be able to answer the call.
UCSB had undersized pins, so it will be fun to watch the blocking battle there.
If GGF has anywhere near the match he had last year from the service line, yikes...

I think defense yes for certain... i don't think byu is out of hawaii's league on serve. Maybe receive but they aren't bad. They will have to play more consistently than they did against Lewis for sure.

Whichever team can hold their nerve wins. I don’t believe either is particularly tough minded.

If they get off their jitters from the get go they will win out. I’m guessing BYU feels the same. Fortunately for Hawaii BYU is no where close to the LBSU team they lost to in the last National final.

Just a small correction for you, haw2991 , the title says Thu 5/7 instead of Sat 5/8. Thanks for making the thread.

For UH to beat BYU, Rado is going to need to play better, and I think we need a bit more offensively out of Chaz. He can definitely be a weapon.

If Hawaii can block and serve like we did against UCSB, Rado don’t have to carry the team. I feel like Pat and Voss could take up some of Rado’s slack and have a monster game. Also get Chaz involve. You know BYU is going to key on Rado and Colton.

If GGF tries to target Chaz with his serve, Gage and Colton will take more court, limiting GGF's target area.
