Another 3-set win for Wiggle (17-21, 21-15, 15-9). Maybe this will be the breakthrough they need to establish themselves ang get out of the qualifier in 1-2*s.

Hughes/Day are in pool C and play Talita/Maria Antonelli in the first round. Liliana/Elsa and Borger/Sude make up the rest of the pool.

Ouch, not a great pool for Hughes/Day. I don't see Wiggle making it out of their pool either. Tough to have two American teams in the same pool.

Sarah/Mel draw Stam/Schoon in their pool again. They played twice in Ostrava, once in pool play and again in the quarterfinals. Both matches went three with Canada winning the first, losing a close second, and holding on to win by a 2-3 point margin in the third. The Olympic draw also put Stam/Schoon in pool A with Sarah/Mel. These two can't keep out of each other's way!

6 of the top 8 teams from the qualifier made it through to the MD on both the men's and women's side. The two upsets by seed in the final round were Wiggle (Q13) over Carro/Soria of Spain (Q4), and Placette/Richard of France (Q9) over Davidova/Lunina of the Ukraine (Q8).

Slaes only give up 21 points total in a win over the younger Verge-Depre. Will face Barbara/Carol again. Day/Hughes and Wiggle playing their respective opponents now.

MHPavs lose in straight sets. Not the leadup to Tokyo they were looking for so far.

Day/Hughes are in a third set. They were down 4-7, now they are up 11-9. Sara and Emily are really good at extending rallies but not as keen at terminating.

Talita/Maria pull out the third set 22-20. Good showing from Sara and Emily, though! All the CQ losses to Slaes aren't looking as bad these days, either. (The Cannon/Reeves one was still pretty bad, though.) They will play Liliana/Elsa in their do-or-die match, who lost in three to Borger/Sude.
