I am not quite sure if there is a separate thread for this topic but I think it would be an interesting discussion. Kerri was only a few strong finishes away from qualifying for another Olympics with a partner that was injured majority of the time. Since Paris is only 3 years away I would not be suprised if she tries pushing for one more. I could see her picking up someone like Savvy Simo or Kristen Nuss or even Betsi Flint and make that push. She should try going back to the AVP to get those extra game reps however.
She is probably still very hungry for some more but I hope she at least takes a young gun under her wing as she wraps up her career.

Let’s give them some time to evaluate the rest of the season…
It’s hard to swallow 3 years of hard work diminish in a single qualifier match.
(They’re registered for Gstaad in early July, which is the last event before Tokyo Olympics.)

No real reason for Brooke/Kerri to play Gstaad. Brooke is banged up and pointless to play just to show up. I'm sure Kerri wants to take a breather to collect her thoughts a bit a well.
However, Gstaad is absolutely one of the premier events on the FIVB tour!

I really hope she'd make up with the AVP (both sides). I think she'd make quite a few semis this year and next if her body held up.

She doesn't need the money, and her shoulder is hash by now... why continue abusing your body? Oh, whatg do I know. Maybe they will have complete shoulder replacement (not repair) surgery in a few years.

Build up her youth volley stuff. I kind of think if she continues to play at the elite level it will actually help her youth programs by keeping her relevant and inspirational to today’s kids.

she'll swing this to a positive i'm sure... thats just how she is... it might not be completely authentic but that's her business... I wonder if her stock will go up actually people seeing how she did so well with such a injured partner... and having stayed "completely" healthy for 3 years (since ankle and shoulder surgery) no athlete is completely healthy... I wouldn't be surprised if she gets a stud defender and they do well... her play wasn't the reason she didn't make the olympics . If sara hughes had any hope for turning her career around, she's beg to play with kerri... I don't know about now but when she was with Kelly Claes, a big riff was because of difference in seriousness and focus... Kelly was late to practice... would take days off, and i heard the same about summer... maybe Sara and Kerri would be like a hyper focused volleyball team on crack! no ying yang there but it's a thought.

I'm not sure I could see this happening, but this is a great idea! If I were in an advisory session, I'd go with THIS! Stranger things have happened in sports, that is for sure!

YES! YES! YES! Start in Gstaad and give it a try.

Sara and Kerri. So funny. We do remember the past, right?

Sara and Kerri. So funny. We do remember the past, right? we do and it would be a huge judge in character for both of them... at the time you can't really blame Sara... Kerri was in and out of injuries... and Sara was riding a title wave high with Kelly that not many people saw ending so quick and the way it did... you live you learn, move on and see what happens... what are either going to do, right?

Sara and Kerri. So funny. We do remember the past, right? After very disappointing Olympic runs for both Sara and Kerri, which were absolutely not what either would have predicted for themselves 4 years ago, I feel like they could get over it since each other really are an easy option to being a top AVP team again. Another 3 years for Kerri to attempt another Olympic run, that is definitely a risk. My opinions of Kerri were on the tougher side, both with her rift with the AVP and the ridiculous p1440 projections (was it 10 million people paying $10 a month or 100 million? I cannot remember). Now that we are at the possible end, I really would like to see her in the AVP this next year again and see what she's got left with a strong/healthy partner.

Yes, it looks like, in hindsight, Kelly was the much weaker partner with no work ethic, and Sara turned out to be even better than advertised. Same with Summer - Sara was the much stronger partner and the only one who worked hard enough to win. Are we sensing a bit of a pattern here? Generally speaking, it seems to be true that when one person is always the one blaming others, the real blame lies within. So IMHO, it would be icing on the cake to see her begging to play with a 40-something partner whose ego may be too big to simply retire gracefully. I'm sure that would prove to be a much better career move than she made in dumping Kelly!
