Fun fact: Larson and Pavan also played in a beach tournament before for University of Nebraska and they won. I was there. They beat Cindy Barboza and Bryn Kehoe on a windy day in San Diego in a made for TV event.. The quality of volleyball was, well, not good.

I’m surely going to miss watching her play if she hangs it up after the Olympics. She’s had a very long season though. Barely 2-3 weeks in between the end of Imoco and flying back to Italy for VNL. Reading the tea leaves, I would guess this is Kim Hill’s last indoor Olympics. She’s not likely to be starting at OH and may not see much action at all. It seems like she only made the roster this time due to her experience and was chosen over other OH who are younger with more potential. At 31, I’d wonder if the national team would move on from her after Tokyo. Obviously she could continue playing pro club indoor, but if she has any aspirations of playing pro beach, now would seem to be the time to do it. Kim is still considered one of the best outsides in the world internationally and plays on a top Italian club team. She hasn’t really performed to expectations with the National team this quad. She could still make very good money indoors for years to come.

And definitely not with Imoco because they’ve already posted their “thank you Kim Hill” on Instagram.

She could still make very good money indoors for years to come. I don't think that is a reflection of her ability. She had a consistent set at Imoco. With USA, she has had to adjust to three different setters, two quick setters but one of whom had a better connection with middles than Outsides, and one of slower tempo. Imagine being an elite OH and getting %*$# sets most of the time. Now that the USA has released Carlini, and I would assume will settle on Poulter (that is if Karch still wants to run a fast offense), the connections should improve. I predict that by Tokyo Hill will play an important role As to Hill's play at Pepperdine Beach, the level of college play pre-NCAA full sanctioning and pre-scholly money was pretty poor... oftimes embarrassing to watch. Walk-ons and off-season indoor players. I do think she can excel in the current level of Pro Beach play given a year or so to acclimatize, but what she did in 2013 means barely more than zero.

Walk-ons and off-season indoor players. I do think she can excel in the current level of Pro Beach play given a year or so to acclimatize, but what she did in 2013 means barely more than zero. I agree and disagree here. First of all, completely agree that the level of beach volleyball was mediocre at best in most programs when it kicked off. There was a player or two, and a few decent squads, but in 2012 the start was sometimes nauseating to behold. The level has increased steadily since that first year, and certainly any program which hired a dedicated beach staff and did not have to share players with indoor grew immediately by leaps and bounds. However, saying it wasn't fully sanctioned by the NCAA is mis-characterizing it. It has been a fully sanctioned NCAA sport since 2012 and the full complement of scholarships were offered by some programs right at the beginning. Budgets certainly grew as the sport did. The change in 2016 was that there was an official NCAA championship. There were some pretty good players in those first years. Summer Ross, Kellie Larsen, Betsy Metter, Caitlin LeDoux, among others. Then there is the layoff issue. Plenty of players, especially from the coasts, may not be known as beach players during their indoor careers, but many of them have a base and fall right back into it later.

Imagine an Alix Klineman and Kim Hill partnership. Two 6’5” players sharing the court. 🤩 It would be sad/funny to see them play defense

Picture this:
Kerri makes the AVP comeback, struggles. Misty May comes out of retirement 2 years from now, the spark is back and so are the results. Win the Olympics, mic drop, p1440 over takes the AVP.
Who said it couldn't happen

KWJ calls it quits and Brooke S keeps it going. Just my guess Brooke and Delaney Knudsen registered for Gstaad.

Anyone who is healthy enough to keep playing, who loses in Qualis with KWJ as partner just needs to preserve dignity and hang it up. Ohh... I guess that sounds judgmental. What the heck, that is what internet forums are for.

The fivb competition committee will formally announce that next week but, it’s known. Three more teams pulled out today

Three more teams pulled out today I assume teams would rather stay and train at home rather thank risking unnecessary travel if they’re going to the Olympics and spots have already been confirmed. I know there’s an issue with Switzerland demanding some teams from some countries be vaccinated and then you have quarantine issues. So, if I recall what I was told; Brazil isn’t going and Canada (if I recall) along with some other counties. So the comp committee doesn’t think it’s fair to award points with the Olympics soon after. I also found out the opening ceremonies are the day before beach starts. Some of my details may be off; I was told this a week ago but that’s the jist. They are suppose to finalize any decision next week Alix and April, Taylor and Trevor, Nick and Phil all dropped out of Gstaad
