That was very confusing! 7-12 record on AES! [br I would definitely put AZ Fear as a favorite and then drop down to pool 6 and look at High Flyers and HPSTL who both did well at Lafata. Seems like pool 2 and 3 are the easiest pools, with pool 6 being the toughest pool in my opinion. Not sure if teams should be just racking up wins playing USA at bid tournaments because it looks like playing open for many teams only hurt them in seeding for USA at Nationals. Yea would agree, def feel that AZ Fear is the favorite for sure, I am also curious of MVVC 17 Black which took Fear to three in Vegas, could be a sleeper pick for sure.

Any thoughts of who is gonna take 17 USA? Looks like a competitive division. Also, I feel that the seedings in that division were really confusing. Why was Adversity awarded the third seed? The only division that matters is open.

Some pretty good squads are not earning Open Bids.

One thing I'm enjoying about USA is the teams seem to be relatively close - and it's tough to judge (for me, anyway) non-socal teams that didn't come out here. (so High Flyers is a huge Q in my mind, but thanks for the tip). Yeah, I think Fear is the favorite, and I'm certainly not irked at them being the 1 overall, but they did lose to HPSTL in 2 at SCC. My pick, with a SoCal bent: keep your eye on SMBC. Scrappy overall, and OH1 is huge and long, and gets better every time he plays. MB a weakness (like most of USA). Lost 2-1 to Fear in SCC, played open at JBI, won silver at SCC winter tourney, but didn't have an SCVA resume, hence the 9 seed. I expect them to take their pool with ease (wherein Cal VB was utterly gifted an undeserved 1 seed - they should be high teens at best.) MVVC Black is, candidly, too dependent on one player. If their 3 rotation oppo is on, they are tough to beat. If he's not, they're good, but see comment about teams being close above. Not out of line to favor them for their pool (HVA finished 16/26 in Chicago, in USA, and gets a 1?), but I also won't be shocked if they finish 3rd.

Yea I think that SMBC is a team to watch out for, extremely low seeded for no reason. Watched some of Cal VB and I really questioned how they got the number one seed over a lot of other teams. Does anyone know why?

Does anyone know why? Look at the West Coast Classic finishes, compare to seeding / at large awards. Vegas 17s won, get at large + 2 seed to USA; Cal lost to them, gets at large + 4 seed in USA. Vegas 18s win WCC, get at Open large. Vegas 16s win WCC, gets at large + 2 seed in USA (and promptly lost to the 2 & 3 in pool today). Neither Vegas 17 or 18s team played a bid tourney, as far as I can tell. SG 18s took 2nd at SCC, gets 1 seed in USA. (edit: In fairness, this team is medal hunting, and won JBI/USA, so I can't say it's undeserved like the others). Not tough to look at that and "know" what happened.

Wow, tell us how you really feel! I do agree though that many teams that have played all year and in multiple bid tournaments in open are getting screwed on seeding in USA.

Honestly, I'm not griping in the way you may think.
Win and solve it if you're unhappy with how your team is seeded.
and for USA? Most teams are pretty even, and there are no pools of death. I genuinely don't think it matters much, here.
And TBC if youre not in SoCal - SCC is trying to break scva. This is USAVs reaction, and I'm not at all bugged by it.

Big surprise out of 16 club with Kuikahi 16R today.
25-3 in one set and 25-7 in another. jesus christ.
for a team coming out of Hawaii who hasn't traveled at all since last year bid tournaments, that is REALLY impressive.

Does anyone have a comprehensive list, of the past decade or so, of winners of BJNCs by division and age group. Hard to find that stuff for Mens volleyball with a google search.
