#1 I would like Speraw to stay another 3 years but I also wonder what are the chances that Kawika Shoji would transition to Associate USA Mens Coach and eventually take over the duties down the road.
I think he would make an excellent international coach and is so well versed in the players, programs and trends around the world.

Mentioned that out over a year ago. Another great option

Honestly, why would he leave?
Both USA men and women have had an AC apprentice and then take over. This isn’t happening with the current staff. Speraw isn’t leaving.

Would love to see Hunt get it in a little while, he’s really left an impact the first few times I’ve heard him speak and he seems like a good coach too. Just based on Kawikas on-court/off-court demeanor I think he could transition to coaching well in the future. Still a long ways away though.

I think the shortened quad encourages many Olympians across the world to stick it out, both athletes and coaches nearing the end of their national team careers. I would like Speraw to continue.

I think coach Hunt will be the next coach. However, as a USA fan, selfishly I would like to see him assist Speraw in this next quad. I think it would be interesting to see what they could accomplish together. Coach Hunt assisted with Karch and Dunphy, it seems like he doesn't mind that role.

I expect John to stay. Was Karch part of this AC apprentice program? 👂 Umm yes Before becoming the head coach, Kiraly served the team as an assistant coach from 2009 to 2012. He helped lead the Americans to a silver medal at the 2012 Olympic Games in London. ....and Kawika would follow that path too...at some point.

I was obviously, I thought, referring to Speraw and Kiraly when I mentioned mens and women’s. As for Kawika, I would hire Hunt or even Knipe again before turning over the national team to a newly retired player. His hiring would be unprecedented.

I want Speraw to go and Hunt to replace him.

I am a big Hunt fan but has he ever won anything? He has done good in college but I would think there is a better person or two out there that always overachieve. What is the reasoning Speraw would leave though, he has a lot of years left in the tank doesn't he? Although the comment about his contract expiring makes sense too or just everyone focused on seeing what happens in a month then contract talks will start again.
How much in game mode does the coach matter though? Makes subs and calls timeouts, I think a head coach matters much more for practice and motivating players in volleyball. I like ex-setters as head coaches because they really control the game and know more about their teammates than anyone.

Knipe had not won anything either when he was named coach of the US team, but that helped get him a nice recruiting class going that led to two titles years after.
