Jenny Lang Ping is supposedly moving back to the US and has a demonstrated track record of success. Maybe she is ready for a new challenge? Not to be sexist but don’t kid yourself having a women’s coach for the men’s team quite yet. Let’s pump the brakes on iron hammer. Let it happen in nfl, nba, nhl, or mlb first. Would hate for our men’s vball team to become “woke” with a women’s head coach and our entire reason of people paying attention is because of that JLP has a near identical coaching resume to Karch, and a much better one than Karch did when he was hired to coach the women. If we assume, as those advocating for Karch to be hired do, that coaching experience in one gender translates to the other, what is it that JLP lacks? The only real argument is that male players won't listen to female coaches, and its a tough sell to argue that we should make choices based on our players presumably being bigots? (I'm not sure they are, but should we also indulge other prejudices if they hold them?)

Name one female coach that has EVER successfully led a Men’s Volleyball National team to a gold medal at either a world championship or Olympics as the head coach.. Jeez, what a rabbit hole this is. I feel like a bigot for simply bringing it up. But I’ve taken the burden to voice what unfortunately is being thought at the highest levels of athletics. Distractions, drama, and ego would cripple the team before it even gets going. Maybe we can try it out at the national championship collegiate level first, and then we can see. I love what is happening at mckendree. But I need to see it at a perineal top 5 level program, not a D2 program who started men’s volleyball less than 12 years ago.

I agree and think what you are voicing is 100% correct in terms of how this question is thought of at the highest levels, but my point is that this kind of thinking is unacceptable and almost certainly incorrect. Replace female with African American or LGBTQ and wouldn't ypur same point apply - that a person belonging to either category has never coached a men's volleyball team to an Olympic or World Championship. I'd also suggest that if such an appointment didn't work out due to players' prejudices, and such feelings caused the team to lose, then those negatively affected would deserve it. Men work for women in almost every field on Earth. Men put their lives in the hands of female commanders in the military, and all of that works fine. But it couldn't work in volleyball?

I don’t think Speraw will want to give up his position as head USA Men’s Team Coach. And he won’t give up the $200,000-$250,000 a year plus benefits at UCLA. Out of curiosity does anyone know the salary of a USA team volleyball coach per year?

I brought her name up because I think she’s at least as qualified as most of the other names out there if not more so….what she did at Beijing with the USA women was incredible. Now, if USAV moves out of Southern California, it’s probably a moot point

I think it would be preferable for the next coach to have quality experience coaching Men’s volleyball.

Let’s try the experiment at a vnl event maybe?? But to jump the gun and try for a quad is a different beast Let’s see some type of production at the lower levels first

But who knows maybe we get surprised lol.

The young guys would play for Nickie Sanlin! No offense to coach sanlin as I am very familiar with her resume, but I’m sure 50% of the national team wouldn’t know who she is. Maybe Murphy troy but even he’s a bit old already. Stl hp didn’t produce anyone recently . Maybe Thomas jaescheke with his familiarity with Chicago power leagues

I didn’t say the older, experienced guys would play for her, but I guarantee that TJ, Kyle, Thomas and a few of the younger guys know Nickie. In 3 years, I would imagine a few more younger guys will be on the roster (ie Jake Hanes). Just a thought…

What high level volleyball player has she ever worked with? World Class? What skill sets would she bring to the Olympic and National program?
