Without checking, I will assume the Elite 8 host will not be selected to host a regional. WashU has a ways to go to even get in the tournament. At 11-7, 2-3 with an 0-7 record against teams on the above list, They are not looking good for a pool C bid. I am guessing the regional site selection process will be the same as always. They will pick 64 teams and then see where they are(not considering geography during the process - wink wink nod nod). They will start with their 6 airplane trips and how they need to use them. Will it be less trips this year due to budget? If they can build a West regional in TX with 5 flights(NW AQ, SCIAC AQ, Colorado College, Santa Cruz, TBD) to Texas(MHB, Trinity(TX), Southwestern) they will start with that probably. How Santa Cruz and Southwestern finish up will be key. Are the NCAA’s Regional Rankings not available yet? 😬 If not, when are they issued? 🤔 Seems like it would be soon? Thanks. 😃 PS It would be ironic if Wash U doesn’t make the tournament in the year they host. ☹️ Didn’t happen in 2010 or 2011. 🙄 Guess they need to win the UAA bid 😳 The Pre Champ manual has this schedule October 20 - first preliminary ranking. Since they don't know who the "ranked" teams are yet, there is no record versus ranked opponents data October 27 - 2nd ranking with all data. This ranking is NOT used for selection purposes. still practice. November 3rd - 3rd ranking. This data is used. Any school ranked in this data is considered a "ranked" team and will be part of ranked W/L data, even if they drop off the final ranking. November 7th - the final ranking. any new schools included are part of the ranked record data. This ranking is done as part of the selection process and is released after the fact. |

Caltech hosts Occidental in a 110 Rivalry match at 7 PM.
Host Occidental took this seasons first match (3-1)
Caltech swept Occidental in 2019 for the first time ever in school history.

Aside from Capital, the other five teams are right in the thick of things.
/The Capital Comets on Wednesday dropped a five setter vs Marietta, which would have been their first win over an OAC team other than Wilmington since they upset crosstown rival Otterbein on the road in the opening round of the 2014 OAC tournament. To put that in perspective, 2014 was three Head Coaches ago, their Seniors were HS freshmen, they were still known as the Capital Crusaders, and topping the charts was It's All About That Bass, by Meghan Trainor. Their remaining OAC games this year are against Mt Union, Muskingum, Wilmington and Otterbein. They did schedule a few manageable OOC games down the stretch, which was smart, but Denison is not one of them. Denison and Mt Union in the same day will be rough.
