I don't see where any other team at Tufts changed their schedule because of this tragedy, but then there is a very nice social media post on the Tufts VB accounts so maybe they were uniquely affected by her loss. Just looking at this strictly as a volleyball cancelation, it's a shame to lose those 3 matches. They had the potential to really clear some things up.

Muskingum outlasted Otterbein in 5. Ohio Wesleyan blew a five setter vs DePauw. Ohio Northern lost both of their matches. Denison survives a scare from the Allegheny Alligators.

Using the first ranking from 10/20, and my Quality win Tracker to calculate ranked W/L record, here is a first guess at pool A and pool C. Matches thru 10/23. Pool A (Highest QWI team, ranked teams only) Tufts, Plymouth State, Endicott, MIT, Ithaca, Brockport, St. John Fisher, Stevens Tech, Rowan, Johns Hopkins, Juniata, Stevenson, UC Santa Cruz, Berry, Southern Virginia, Randolph-Macon, Calvin, Wittenberg, Ohio Northern, Wisc-Eau Claire, Chicago, Illinois Wesleyan, Concordia(WI), Mount St. Joseph, Wartburg, Gustavus Adolphus, Northwestern-MN, Trinity(TX), CMS, Whitworth
Pool C (20 bids) 1) Hope 2) Wisc-Whitewater 3) NYU 4) Emory 5) Colorado College 6) Wesleyan(CT) 7) Otterbein 8) Bowdoin 9) wisc-Stevens Point 10) Southwestern 11) Susquehanna 12) Scranton 13) Haverford 14) Springfield 15) Middlebury 16) Bethel 17) Muskingum 18) Denison 19) Eastern 20) Messiah
9 left at the table: Amherst, Babson, Clarkson, Desales, Christopher Newport, Mount Union, Aurora, Augsburg, Pomona-Pitzer

Ok. so the above is a good example for discussion purposes. First, I am not picking on Messiah specifically, it could have been anybody. But there is no way from this group of 10 they should be picked. but if you use the Selection Criteria in the pre champ manual, they are the likely pick.
Of the 10 teams in round 20 their average Pablo/Massey/HuskerGeek ranking is 107th, for 9th of 10. Aurora is 32nd, Mount Union is 43rd, Augsburg is 47th. (NCAA does not use outside rankings, they should)
They have a great strength of schedule at .605. But if you look at the average rank of their opponents they are 6th in this group.
They are 18-8 with an 8-5 ranked record. In looking at those 13 opponents, the value(my formula) of their ranked record, the true "result" as Ricky wants us to focus on, is 7th of the 10 teams. Other teams with less ranked matches have much more significant victories.
9th, 6th, and 7th of 10 and they get the pick. hopefully the committee does better.

The ramifications make this a huge day in Ohio.
Denison and Wittenberg square off, with the winner taking the outright NCAC Title, which means that they get to host the NCAC Tournament. Wittenberg has won at least a million consecutive NCAC Titles, so Denison has their work cut out for them even at home.
The winner of Ohio Northern vs Otterbein will be tied with Mt Union atop the OAC standings with one game to go (assuming Mt Union beats Baldwin Wallace). ONU and Mt Union still have to play on Saturday, while Otterbein gets their annual victory parade over crosstown rival Capital, who always plays them tough but never beats them.
