BYU 8-0. Play Utah tomorrow. Holy War. And the BYU/Utah volleyball game Friday night. Big weekend! I have never liked the term "Holy War" to describe BYU and Utah. It doesn't really make sense to me because a Holy War is usually two different religions. But Utah is not a religious school. I think the term would make more sense for BYU/Baylor, though I prefer "Bible Bash" for that one. I also think "Holy War" brings a nasty element relating to religion to the rivalry that shouldn't be part of sports in my view. I wish they called it the Beehive Bowl or something like that.

Miami had been living dangerously for a while, and it finally caught up to them.

Georgia is in enormous trouble, down 25-10 to Ole Miss with just over three minutes to go. Carson Beck just got stripped sack too. This feels over. Also, Kansas just took down Iowa State, which has now lost their last two games after winning their first seven.

I have always referred to it as the Holy War... but mostly cause I just take whatever the common name is for a rivalry and roll without it without putting too much thought into it. Though, I have thought it was a little strange for the same reason of Utah not being a religious school. So, I looked it up. Doesn't seem to be much consensus besides both schools had a lot of Mormon students? Though obviously BYU would have more. Because of this, now I wanted to know why Oregon vs. Oregon State is called the Civil War. I googled it and realized that it's now an outdated term and not referred to as the Civil War. Interesting. Anyway, I'd be interested to see if Utah-BYU rivalry gets re-named and what it would be. I do remember the Mormons vs. Mullets thing from Coastal Carolina-BYU's football game, but, I don't know how that was received.

This column does a pretty good job of of covering it.

Colorado comes back from a 13-0 deficit to beat Texas Tech 41-27. With Iowa State losing, Colorado controls its destiny in the Big 12.

BYU keeps its undefeated season alive and goes to 9-0 with a field goal with three seconds left to defeat Utah 22-21.
Edit: the Utah fans, coach and athletic director whining about a correct holding call is so hilarious.

BYU really didn’t deserve to win that game. They were pitiful in the red zone. But, a win is a win! Wonder what they will be ranked?
Utah AD will get a hefty fine. Watching it back, it was clearly a hold. But Utah, you let BYU go 67 yards with a minute to play. Their defense was stellar all night-until it wasn’t. And, you scored zero points in the 2nd half. And you scored a touchdown after a wrong face mask penalty.

Feel bad for Utah but they had every chance to win that game. They just didn't show up in the 2nd half.

Watching it back, it was clearly a hold. But Utah, you let BYU go 67 years with a minute to play. Their defense was stellar all night-until it wasn’t. And, you scored zero points in the 2nd half. And you scored a touchdown after a wrong face mask penalty. Utah also gave up a kickoff return for a touchdown, though BYU's blocking on the return was outstanding. The returner was basically untouched. It looked like he stiff-armed the kicker at the end, and I think that might have been the only contact he faced on the whole play.
