I came by after the match just to ask if the announcer was pronouncing Jehlářová correctly. The way he says it sounds like Yehallashava. Where does the sh sound come from? Could be my poor hearing. Drove me nuts

Drove me nuts not to be rude or anything, but why? it's just the pronounciation of a different language?

Stanford 16 blocks?! Geez, will they bring that to UW? That's right on their average of 3.21 blocks/set in conference play. The fifth set only went to 15 points but the second and fourth went to 28-26 each so that makes up for it. Who know how well they'll block against Washington but this isn't at all unusual for Stanford.

I’m just catching up rn and if I had to go only by everyone’s posts before this, I would have not thought that Baird had the most kills, let alone that she had 21. Baird had 55 total attacks and hit .182, actually better than I thought. She seem to run out of gas after set two and struggled passing all night. Baird's passing was off and on all night. The times where WSU came back in the third and fourth set was when Baird was left front I believe and passing back left. They targeted her and her passing didn't hold up on those rotations. Hopefully her passing will be a bit more consistent for Washington... as a whole, the passing broke down during those WSU runs. Great to see Stanford come out so strong in the fifth, with three blocks within the first four points.

not to be rude or anything, but why? it's just the pronounciation of a different language? It wasn't a simple mispronunciation, it seemed like he made it up out of whole cloth. Sure, those eeastern European names can be tough for Americans, but at least give it a decent try.Since watching on TV is the only way people ever hear a lot of these names,it's not only disrespectful to the player, it can easily propagate itself. Also might be a bit baffling for people looking at the box score the next day.

Stanford's floor defense was good- not a lot of spectacular plays, but plenty of good ones and people seem pretty clear on their assignments now. Not great percentages for Stanford's pins, but WSU was defending them well. I thought they generally did pretty well out of system; Baird had two or three kills where it didn't look like she had any sort of shot.

Congrats on the Swiss Cheese Sweep, Cardinal. I thought it was a semi-reverse sweep. Supermarket sweep?

My stream cut out so I didn't get to see the fifth set. I'll have to try to catch a replay. I'm glad they closed the match out; they'll need more of that the rest of the season and postseason. More of what? Winning?

Card wins. Tusa is going to be a major liability attacking and blocking especially if she's matched up with Kipp Jehlarova is starting to play good volleyball Jehlarova had a monster match and WSU could not really play any better, Stanford has the talent to win it all

She struggled quite a bit but the team showed some grit. Good thing she was able to play. They needed her even with all the errors and shaky passing.

I noticed early on in the match (before she started showing signs of having an off night) Hambly motioned for her to sit down during the time outs.
