Did anyone else notice Williams and Francis were trading looks through the net after they blocked each other? Idk, thought it was entertaining hehe They both have a little SWAG, so I'm not surprised. Francis might be Stanford's new leader.

I just asked a friend of mine from Slovakia how she would pronounce Magda's name. Her response:
"The pronunciation is almost correct, I’d write it Ya-hla-sho-va. It’s a very difficult surname to pronounce, even for the Slovaks, because the letter ř."

why cant every school have byu-quality cameras ... They'll need Generous Donors and a Church University with a mission to communicate to the world. "Elder Ballard said before groundbreaking began, 'In my vision and my feeling, this broadcasting effort from Brigham Young University has the potential of being the voice that will be heard around the world, that will be the voice of the Lord, that will take head-on the contest that is going on in the world between good and evil.'” magazine.byu.edu/article/a-beacon-on-a-hill/

I've always been interested in power rotations: a good server with a tough blocking front line. Stanford has this two years ago with either Jenna or Sidney serving. This year, I perk up when I see Lougeay serving, Francis, Vicini, and Kipp on the front row. It worked well to give the Card a crushing lead in the 5th game. BTW, if you only looked at the stats, you would think the match was more of a blow-out for Stanford. That game 2 threw off the individual stats.

It wasn't a simple mispronunciation, it seemed like he made it up out of whole cloth. He was pronouncing it wrong How do you think it should be pronounced? The official WSU guidance from their media guide is "ya-hala-sha-va". I am pretty sure that the second syllable is in fact only one syllable rather than two (how English speakers would say "hala"). I think it's probably something more like "hla" where the "hl" is a sound that isn't in English. There is a recording of her saying her own name, and it sounds like maybe there are not four syllables, much less five, but since I'm sure they worked with her on the pronunciation guide, I would guess she's OK with us English speakers saying "ya-hala-sha-va". I try to make sure that I spell it correctly: Magda Jehlářová (as she spells it herself on her Instagram account). I think that probably breaks down as Je=ya hlá=hala řo=sha vá=va. This is her third season in the PAC and she was conference and NATIONAL freshman of the year two years ago, so I'm kind of surprised people are still hearing "ya-hala-sha-va" for the first time. ok, I listened to the pronunciation on the WSU during the game because thought that he must be saying it wrong given where she's from. He was saying it wrong it almost doesn't even sound the same. Even someone who is "English speaking" doesn't have to butcher the girls name. Just because I speak American English doesn't mean I can't say a Spanish or French word jeez get it right and practice it a couple times before match. It's one thing to have an accent and another to just say it wrong.
