Well, that makes it a good, but not great, volleyball night for me. Hoping the Wahine bounce back tomorrow night, figure some things out, and set up a showdown to end the league slate in Hawai'i. Oh yeah, that's right. UH plays another match tomorrow night. This one consumed all of my energy and attention that I forgot about that. Lol.

I am hoping tomorrow will be a great night, with the Wahine bouncing back and the Badgers taking down Penn State.

Good match. UCSB is what I expected. They were a team that was going to run a fast offense from their really good setters and use their balance to keep a team's defense off balance. I've watched them a few times this season and a UCSB fan can probably provide more detail, but this looked like the best match they've played by a mile all season. To put it simply, even against the other Big West teams, they rack up double digit hitting errors. Tonight, they only had 7 hitting errors, 4 in the final set. Can they replicate this performance again in Hawaii will be the big question. I think their coach is in the lead for COY, but I think Van Sickle is the lead for POY. UCSB's balance will hurt winning individual awards, but I could see a number of players on this team making all conference. Hawaii fought through adversity and didn't give up, even in the 3rd. As mentioned by another poster or posters, Hawaii's weaknesses are playing into UCSB's strength. The block wasn't ready for the speed of the offense and trying to slow players down. Hawaii wasn't a tough serving team, but still got UCSB in enough passing trouble where you knew where the ball was going and the defense still didn't make a play. The biggest thing will be to regroup for tomorrow and head back to Hawaii for more practice. A loss can serve as a great reminder. They've been able to get wins despite playing poorly. Tonight showed that they need to step up their game and get ready for big matches. They did it against Cal Poly, so it was surprising they came in a little flat for this match. Kudos to the Big West for someone getting the Hawaii versus UCSB match as the last match of the season. Assuming neither team loses (which is not a given my any stretch), the Hawaii rematch could decide who gets the auto bid into the NCAA tournament. Good match ? Huh ?!?!?! If you’re a Gaucho fan!!!

UH needs to serve tougher too next time. UCSB was in system most of the night and make them hard to stop since they don’t rely on one dominant hitter. If we can get them out of systems, I like our chances.
Yeah…they looked impressive tonight but this team lost tro UCD and have 9 losses on the year so they aren’t all world all the time. Tonight they looked All World.

First time watching UCSB play. I'm surprised they have that 1 loss in the BWC. Hawaii seemed really lethargic tonight. They can't afford to lose any more games. Tomorrow should be interesting.

When the Wahine play well, is when Skylar Williams decides to come ready to play. But it is when Williams decides not to come focus to play is when the Wahine do not play well. For a Senior, not to mention, a Covid Senior not come ready to play every night is not unforgiveable. This disappear act by Williams, no matter if she is a big cheer leader, cannot be condoned. The Wahine and coach staff are counting on Williams to come ready to play at 100%, if she unwilling to do so, then she should be benched for Kiraly.

I didn't get a chance to watch the match but I listened to the radio. It sounds like Hawaii's weak serving and porous blocking reared it's ugly head tonight. Anyone want to chime in on what they thought the difference was tonight?

This is not a battle for 1st place, cause no matter what, the Wahine will still be in 1st place, after this match. No, I believe Hawaii will be a half match behind UCSB now...

What will be interesting to see if UCSB can win the rest of their matches leading up to the rematch with the Wahine. I do not believe so. But I do know the Wahine will win the rest their matches, Robyn will make sure of that. I can see a lot of tough practices in the Wahine future. Robyn hates losing, more then anything else. Can we see some lineup changes when the Wahine home next weekend, I am quite sure of that. The Opposite, and one Middle position is wide open, right now.

After tomorrow night, both teams will be tied for 1st place. If UCSB lost this match, the Wahine would have had a 2 match lead. So UCSB needed this match more then the Wahine did. What the Wahine cannot do is lose another BWC match.
