So not one but two bubble seed Big 10 teams now get to boost their SOS a week before selection? wonderful. Lucky for us Texas didn’t forfeit our game

I would much rather have the match be played regardless of RPI impact. This was supposed to be Senior Night. It would have given the Gophers a chance to work on some things during a match that they otherwise wouldn't have. More importantly, this sucks for the fans. This is a rare match where tickets are available to people. I personally know of two different families who were going to go for the first time this season. Both have young daughters and in one case it was going to be her first Gopher volleyball match. There is no "win" in this forfeit. It stinks. . Sorry for the dumb question: won't tomorrow (vs Wisc) simply be upgraded to Senior Night, then?
Why wouldn't it be the last home match of the regular season?? I guess obviously they wanted it to be a win, as much as possible, but now the win over Wisc will be even sweeter!

was this energy there when UW's match with #226 Portland got canceled? lol I'm sure you are rational enough to appreciate the difference between these two scenarios. It's week 13, We know for a fact that Rutgers' record will wreck opponents RPI. In week 4, we actually DON'T know it. Sure we can "project" their record, but it certainly doesn't always pan out that way. Portland could have done big things in conference and NOT have been an RPI bomb. Stanford was "projected" to be a sub .500 team earlier this season, are they now? Sure I'm thankful that has helped Washington because Portland did have a sucky season, but that is different than KNOWING the record ahead of time, which we do with Rutgers. And, to be fair, I'm not suggesting there is some hidden conspiracy for these two teams to cancel a match with Rutgers, or that it's their fault. I'm mostly criticizing the RPI inputs and criteria in the first place. Not playing a match at all makes both teams nitty gritty look better in the committees eyes, when in reality whether or not they play the match has ZERO bearing on how good or not good Nebraska/Minnesota actually are (other than if they lost the match, which they weren't). And the fact that it happens to possibly break in favor of not one, but two Big 10 teams who were already on the seed bubble for a committee that has shown demonstrably favorable treatment in the past, certainly doesn't help the matter not leave a sour taste. I'd rather them all (including Washington's match with Portland) be either forfeit wins/losses and gets computed just like every other match. THAT is fair. And you shouldn't be allowed to go RPI fishing and just add teams last minute *cough* USC either to manipulate the RPI. BTW, Brown was also "projected" to be 11-13 for the season and a poor team to schedule non-conference yet they are sitting at 20-4 and a SOS gold mine to schedule. We are rational enough not to whine about schedule changes that are not controllable. We're also rational enough not to compare Portland State to Stanford. Maybe you should check your irrational hatred of the B1G for once.
