From the play standpoint... 17's field was loaded and the play was amazing! The class of 2023 is exceptional. Some super talented kids playing in 17 USA as well. I can't wait to see them play in college.

ONE LAST THING FROM THE NLQ...
Big shout out to MN Select 18-1's who went through a hellacious weekend.
Before the start of Day 1 their star libero was ill and couldn't play. Down to 9 players. Then their middle split her nose wide open face planting while going for a ball in the back row. Blood everywhere! Down to 8 players. Then their RS took a ball to the head which re-aggravated some concussion issues. Down to 7 players. Then on Day three one of their OH's became ill and couldn't play. Down to 6 players.
They still managed to win 1 out of 2 games Day three and finish ninth.
Hopefully and the girls will be healthy soon and that they will grow from this adversity.

I saw a tik tok from one of the girls on the team that recorded the weekend and all the crazy variables they had to deal with. Pretty impressive!

That sucker's going to spread like wildfire I bet.

That must've been the situation I briefly saw with a double plugged nose and a wheelchair. Tough gals.

and...how to qualify: Open- qualifier/at large National- region USA-qualifier/at large Liberty-qualifier/at large American-qualifier/region Freedom-Region Patriot-pay to play this is priority order for bids usage. Open is clearly the best teams...after that, it gets murky.... National and USA is the next level after Open (many in the field are the #2 teams from top clubs with some #1 teams that typically aren't in the Open division). USA typically has the deeper field. Liberty and Freedom are new. American used to be the sole division in the third level and typically had huge fields at the qualifiers competing for 1 bid. I assume Liberty will probably be the better teams that formerly played in American and likely most of the former American qualifiers. As the pay to play indicates, Patriot could be anyone except teams that qualified in one of the other divisions. Basically teams that want to say they played at a National.

Thanks for the info on MN Select 18-1. That does sound like a hellacious weekend.
Any link to their trials and tribulations?
Sounds like they tried to make the best of it...

While I think rankings are kind of dumb this early in the season, I'd move up Vital to somewhere around the 10 spot in the 18's. I swear I have absolutely nothing to do with the team.
Is the Triple Crown basically the first "major" tourney of the season? Should be a hoot. Is there anything really on par with it?
Still think the 17's should be awesome to watch. Kingsley called out 1st Alliance early at the NQL as a team to watch. Wasn't kidding.

Umm, sure qualifiers are interesting tournaments but it seems like the Triple Crown NIT is one of the first big tourneys where almost all of the best teams will in attendance.
Am I wrong?

How is USA a deeper field when it’s a level below National? From my experience, over the years, I wouldn’t consider USA a level “below” National. I’d say they are equals in actual level of play. USA has more teams that qualify for Junior Nationals, so thats where the “Deeper” description holds weight.
