The biggest takeaway from the 17s championship is that TAV was able to contain Chicoine. Nobody could do that all weekend, she was on another level and still playing out of her mind in the championship. TAV just had a little more edge and overall better depth in offense than CC.
But overall in the 17s, Chicoine was the MOP. What a weekend she had

She is incredible but their middles are window dressing and their RS when in the front row with Chloe gets set about 1% of the time. #14 is a good hitter, not much for defense and does a decent job when in. Was really surprised just how little anybody else is allowed to do anything offensively having not see them this year.

Looks like Tri-State Elite 18 Blue claimed an Open bid at MEQ after tying for 5th. MN Select was already qualified but I don’t think the other 3 of the top 4 finishers had qualified. Did one of them turn down a bid?

Which is great but IMO won't last to win you a national championship. You need other weapons. How will they handle her having a down day- cause lets be honest this is sports and these are teenagers and EVERYONE has an off day/set/match.

Absolute continued domination by Dynasty 16 Black this weekend at MEQ. The entire team is very poised and polished all the way around as again, they did not drop a set all weekend. The only team that pushed them this was KC Power in the semi. Scrappy back row play by KC in the second set made it a little interesting, as Janelle Green did everything she could to distribute the ball to her crew. In the end, Abi Mullen, Carlie Cisneros and Skylar Pierce did not bat an eye and shut the place down all weekend.
The Dynasty back row play, setting and ball movement was just too much to overcome. When a team made an adjustment to try to contain Pierce they quickly distributed the ball to other weapons and then would come back to Pierce. I contniue to be impressed with the 16's division on a whole, but this Dynasty team and a few others are on a complete other level.

Fairly certain Select won their bid outright and not via trickle down. They were top four in the tournament. But I could be wrong about the trickle down part.
