It was really cool to see them in the stands down there. Glad they made it back in one piece, albeit a bit sleep-deprived and stressed out!

There are 5,462 liberos in the portal so far. Im sure we can get someone good. Charlie Niego is in the portal too. We could use that arm on the OH for sure!

I had to do some research to find out who Charlie's mom is. Her mom has some ties to the same college as Chris and Jen Tamas.

Her mom is a volleyball legacy at that school before the Tamas’. Would love to see IL pick her up, but I’m unsure what she is looking for grad school.

It would not be the first time Tamas reached out to Pacific for help at a needed position. Her mom was an assistant at Wisconsin and head coach at Loyola, so there are ties elsewhere too.

If we landed her -- move Raina to OPP and we have Ellie, Charley, Jessica, Bruna & Sophie at OH.

SKYLAR FIELDS from TEXAS in the portal. She could easily slot in for Cooney on the OPP. If we added her -- easy final 4 team.

I didn't see Bruna on the bench during either of the first two rounds (West Virginia and Kentucky) and didn't hear a reason for the absence- I assumed it was illness. The orientation of the camera and benches at Texas's gym doesn't show the benches during play so I didn't get a good look at ours, but I don't recall seeing Bruna there in any of the images. I believe if she had been there, we wouldn't have moved Kennedy at all. We were able to get away with having basically no available pin depth on the bench for a good chunk of the season (before Bruna was healthy) but it failed us in the Sweet Sixteen. Watching pregame warmups throughout the season is the closest thing I've got to a window into practices and I think the only non-pin hitter on the roster that took pregame swings as an opposite was Mosher. Didn't see any middles take swings at opposite. My opinion on Mosher is that she is a stud. I liken her to Ohio State's coach Jen Flynn (Oldenburg) when she was a setter for OSU but also switched to OH when a new All-American setter joined the OSU team. It will be interesting to see what the Illinois coaches do next season if Brown returns. My opinion is that Brown is a very competent B1G setter. My opinion is that she blocks and digs about as well as any setter in the B1G. Coach Tamas, a setter himself, knows which of the two setters sets the best ball. I wonder sometimes if the individual team members know which setter is a better setter. Over my time watching the setter battles at Illinois, I have often not agreed with initial coaching decisions about who should been setting for the Illini. What do I really know about the team dynamics that exist. I thought Erin Virtue should have been the starting setter when she was a freshman (she was not). I thought Jordyn Poulter was clearly the choice for setter when she arrived as a freshman on campus (not the coach's decision). Coach Hambly was very torn about replacing the senior setter with freshman Poulter. I have been told that there are a lot of considerations when a coach chooses a setter. Some of which are not evident to those not involved in the team dynamic, and not at practice every day. I guess it can be an embarassment of riches for a team to have two very competent setters. The wrong choice by the coach can be devastating to the ultimate success of the team. Even if Brown returns, I think we need to make the move to Mosher. Let’s refresh that position because as good as Brown can be, she can also be an achilles heal. I said this in the 2021 thread, but DB just doesn’t do it for me.

Cooney's development from three rotation OPP to solid six rotation game is a recent example for people to see. Plus, Tamas and co always talk about wanting six rotation pins, seemingly instead of subbing out for a second DS. I'd think that her desire to play six rotations is more important to her than competing for a national championship, as Texas is always in contention but she's decided to enter the portal. No doubt she has countless suitors but I'm holding out some hope.

Hopefully we are finished with 6-2 experiments. Can Mosher play one of the pins for a year? If Brown is on the roster I don’t see her sitting.
Bingham did not play last year. Was her decision to redshirt made at the beginning of the year or did it just happen? If the decision was to redshirt can she play opposite?
Any rumors (as opposed to pure guesses) of anyone going into the transfer portal or transferring here from somewhere else?
finally, anyone who wants to play pro in Europe will benefit by playing six rotations now.

Wondering the same thing I watched her club video last evening. She is not. I tried to copy and paste the link but that appears to beyond me.
