Could we maybe be getting someone from Iowa ?? Either Buzzerio or Ortega? I have no way of knowing for sure…but the Transfer Portal thread seems to suggest that we might be getting one of them. I checked the Iowa volleyball website for serving stats for both Buzzerio & Ortega. Couldn't figure it out. LOL. I wouldn't mind us picking up Wohlert from Wisco at OPP. 6'7" block

I wouldn't mind us picking up Wohlert from Wisco at OPP. 6'7" block I checked the Iowa website yesterday and their serving stats seem to be messed up on the page where they list everyone's stats. But if you access stats from the individual player pages in the roster you can see the aces and errors. Of the three Hawkeyes in the portal (that have been shared on VT), Buzzerio had the most aces. She had more than Ortega and Clayton. For those that didn't sift through the transfer threads, here's what was said: Iowa's best server is heading to a school where she can be an excellent one.

I ended up going through the same process trying to figure out who the best server was on the Iowa team last year and came to the same conclusion, that Buzzerio had the most aces, which to most folks would lead to the conclusion she was their best server. She would make the most sense for us as she is a natural opposite, hits lefthanded, puts up a big block and as a former setter is able to play right back when in the back row. I guess if this board is in agreement what is left? Can someone please call coach, tell him we've figured out the best fit for a new recruit and he should get right on it?

However, Hattie Monson is one to look out for. According to Wisconsin fans, Monson is headed to Wisconsin. of course another Illinois native to wisconsin smh

Also, Tamas seems to be getting more Illinois recruits lately. On the 2018 team (which was mostly Hambly recruits), I think Morgan O'Brien was our only Illinois native. Unless we see transfers out, next season we'll have five natives (Hinton, Collins, Gregus, Barnes, and Bianca May) and one of the two current verbal commits for 2023 is also from Illinois, Lily Barry.

With the ND hire, recruiting the top talent at the Chicago Catholic schools just got harder.

Maybe ILL should hire us as paid recruiting consultants. Buzzerio would definitely level us up. Serving, big block, hits front row and back.

CBuzz does does not hit left-handed...just FYI.

Chalk it up to an old man’s memory lapses - past 70 it’s all downhill. She is a helluva player and is welcome in Champaign, even as a righty. Just hope she is considering Illinois.

Yes, she is a great player, indeed. Wish she would stay at Iowa to see how things go with new coach, of course, but certainly wish her well wherever she lands if she doesn't.

Great cause and really appreciate Coach's comments. Couldn't be prouder of our team's continued emphasis on inclusion and diversity. I just wish Coach wouldn't start a post with "I have been in sports for as long as I can remember." Until I read on I thought he was announcing he would be moving on.
