Wow. Hildebrand makes $175,000 as the assistant, the Michigan salary surprises me given that institution’s reputation. I think I read once that Cook has a hefty incentivized contract. Meaning yes his base is $675,000, but he def goes over $1 million with camps and the goals he achieves. I could be off. Close to it although He doesn’t kill in camps like you’d imagine. Nebraska takes a lot, he shares camp equally with assistants and DOVO.

It would appear with several factors coming into play: past Covid cuts, contracts renewals coming, and several Big 10 coaches having big years, and a new HC hiring, there will be a nice increase to the overall group. Already seen it with Hugh. The average will be very impressive when it’s all said and done. The range of pay is crazy wide though.

I am intrigued to know how you are so aware of the allocations of profit that comes from camps..?

Nebraska: $675,000 Minnesota: $550,000 Illinois: $368,000 Wisconsin: $345,650Ohio State: $281,875Indiana: $246,237Purdue: $241,898Michigan State: $261,375 Rutgers: $180,000Michigan: $170,000 in 2020, but $191,000 in 2019 Iowa: $175,000 Maryland: $160,000Here's the thing, everybody's deal is slightly different. What is the camp split with the school and with the assistants? What is the clothing allowance? Is there a country club membership attached? Did they take a booster car, or an extra $20K? What is the incentive structure? Is the booster throwing in money on top of their salary? When offered a $100k raise, did they request that it go to the assistant lines or to create a DOVO or something else? BTW, cost of living from can change dramatically - $160k at Maryland is $94k in Iowa. $675k in Lincoln is about $1,045k in DC. Didn't Mary Wise have a weekly appearance paid for by the power company or something like that? Wasn't Matt Peck making 3x his salary on camps at MTSU? The base salary is really just the beginning for some of them, and it's close to everything for others.

As a University of Minnesota Employee I can look in our system and see all salaries in an easy place-Hugh's base salary is apparently 299K currently which means the other ~200 or so comes from other channels on campus...
Might sound like a lot, but there are 12 coaches in our football program (which does not have near the success VB does) alone that make more than him.

Cook is easily the most successful coach at the University of Nebraska. Sad that our pathetic men's basketball and football coaches are making millions more to suck. Some day. Some day!

Sheffield was at $461K as of 2019-2020, up from $378K in 2018-2019. He would have been due to receive a contract extension in the spring of 2021 - per articles in the Milw Journal - but because of the spring VB season, that was delayed. I don't find an article saying that has happened. Oddly enough, data base for U of W says his salary went down in 2021 by a lot. 25 per page Fiscal year Name Title Dept Description Campus Start Date Total Pay Details 2021 Kelly Sheffield Coach Ath/Volleyball (Wmn)/Vball-W UW Madison 01/02/2013 $345,650.00 view 2020 Kelly Sheffield Coach Ath/Volleyball (Wmn)/Vball-W UW Madison 01/02/2013 $461,600.00 view 2019 Kelly Sheffield Coach Ath/Volleyball (Wmn)/Vball-W UW Madison 01/02/2013 $378,000.25 view Poor Sheff, I hope he can survive on $345K.

Not discounting that it is a great gesture on the part of the head coach, however.

The GAs and other camp coaches are apparently well compensated. Cook asks a lot from his staff but rewards them accordingly. A hefty amount on the line for the coaches Saturday night. Missed out on the Big10 bonus due to a loss to wisky. Let’s hope that doesn’t happen again.

I realize they beat Wisconsin to send Iowa to lose in the title game, but Hugh, as the head coach, has overperformed the football assistant coaches who have helped get the program to decent. If the football program ended the year where the volleyball program did, even with the literal top recruit in the country hurt for most of it, it would be a banner year!
