Looks like Harrison/Dacosta started on outside for Green with Sczech at OPP and for Gold it was Simpson/Davis at outside with E. McGhee at OPP. I never really had Dacosta in consideration for an outside spot because I thought she would be sticking to defense, but I’m also not at the scrimmage and don’t know if she’s actually playing front row. *edit: Dacosta is playing front row, hmmm…. have Dacosta's passing in all six rotations might be something for Baylor to look into but also its a scrimmage and probably not that much insightful since she probably hits in practice anyways Dacosta did play some libero in the scrimmage and Keene played outside as well. I think both will see the court in some capacity, one DS’ing for the RS and one for the other OH, but maybe their offense accompanies their passing and gets them on the court full time. Keene did have a set-winning backrow kill in the scrimmage. I’m not entirely worried about Baylor’s passing. Briseño is a very good passer and Harrison made consistent strides a season ago. If even just one of the freshmen DS’s settles in quickly, passing should hardly be the weakness for this team.

Dacosta was a pretty legit 6ro in club, right?

She was the #5 recruit in her class at one point before settling at #13 I think. USAV 15 Open MVP, so saw great success through club and would love for that to continue through college, but for now I expect her defense and passing is what gets her on the court.

sicem365.com/s/12990/volleyball-quotes-and-notes-coach-mcguyre-and-players-meet-with-media/6A great read with wonderful insight from McGuyre. He’s so well-articulated in interviews and always seems so honest. Some notable quotes: On the talented freshmen: “Averi brings that calmness, that steadiness I think you're going to see a lot more explosiveness from our middle attackers, than in the past five years probably. And her ability to set the middles, but then those being our senior positions with Mallory [Talbert] and Kara and Ali [Alicia Andrew] returning and AG [Ava Grace Haggard] returning a strength there. I think when you look at like a [Alexis] Decosta with great ball control, fastest one in the gym, a fearlessness, like that's something that's just going to grow” On the other facets of the game: “I think our serves will be tough. I think our blocking will definitely be a strength of this team. I feel we're ahead of schedule blocking for as young as we are, So I think we'll cause some frustrations blocking.“ on Carlson: [Paraphrase] She’s instinctive with the game, after a great set they might ask her why she put the ball where she did and she might respond ‘I don’t know, it felt like the right set’.
