Gonna be fascinating to see how they’re able to reload. Or not. Lots of big shoes to fill, but Jena Otec’s may be the biggest. Who’s gonna play bro? As of the spring, it was Schermerhorn. Curious if there’s 2022 Libero coming this fall or if the jersey is Schmerhorn’s.

How's Megan Renner doing? My daughter went to the same high school and always looked up to her when she was younger. Is this her year to get playing time?

Out of the three setters on the roster, Renner has a great shot at the setting position. Shondell himself has said she’s ready for the opportunity and will lead the team. However, that doesn’t mean she’ll keep the starting position the whole season.

I share the same concerns and anxiousness that other Purdue fans on the board seem to have. So many roles (both playing wise and leadership) need filled and I’m curious to see who steps up.
I still believe this team is a top-25 team given all of the question marks. I have a feeling the season will start with many of the seniors having the majority of playing time, but Hudson/Warren could quickly have something to say about that.
The Purdue program has such a bright future ahead with all of the recruits coming in. I cannot wait for the seasons to come!

Agreed, and I'll say this, there have been several years this past decade that seemed like coach Shondell had to throw stuff at a wall and try to make it stick, and by and large they were always a top-25 Level team. I am starting to talk myself into another S-16 level season, but... I think it'll take an upset in the 2nd round.

We will have to see new stars emerge. I am excited to see Carr play. There was a good article about how she wanted to be a Boiler and how she toured the campus by herself. She was offered a scholarship without Shondell seeing her play in person. Great story and would love to her shine at Purdue.

Any inside scoops on Purdue recruiting? Not sure how many scholarships they have for 2024 but am curious what they’re looking for.

I noticed the Purdue Volleyball Instagram unfollowed 2024 target Lauren Harden so one would assume she’s not coming. Purdue still follows these 2024 players which means there’s some mutual interest: • Lizzy Andrew • Kiylah Presley • Allie Shondell (will be interesting to see if Purdue is actually recruiting her) • Morgan Gaerte •Alec Rothe • There’s likely other players in the 2024 class, but they don’t have it listed in their IG bio. Also, people can say what they want about Instagram follows not meaning anything, but for Purdue, it’s always been a good indicator.

From talking to folks at nationals, it sounds like they’re probably looking at Middles and Liberos for the 2024 class. Not necessarily to the exclusion of other positions, but those seem to be top needs. Also, Allie Shondell is an outstanding setter. Great hands, super high vb IQ (as you’d imagine.) And I wonder if, as family member of a Purdue employee, she’d get a free education without having to spend a scholarship? Just spitballin’ here. No idea if she wants to play for her dad and uncle.

That’s a great deal when a relative is good enough for a scholarship but doesn’t take 1 of the 12. Purdue has some talent.

I think Rothe has a bunch of options. Interested to see where she ends up. Instagram/Twitter follows are hard to read. These kids follow so many coaches😂
