This is the messiest all-around offensive game I've seen from Purdue in awhile. So many balls into the net or out. Colvin is having a terrible time.

Koch is such a dynamic right side blocker Cleveland would be proud.

Purdue wins set 3 (30-28) and sweeps Ball State.
Hero of the Game: Ali Hornung. Twice, in the final points, she chased balls down into the bench and then the press table in order to keep a rally alive.

Yikes - messy messy indeed - I’m just going to assume it was to get Eva’s kills/set stats up ….

I just had a chance to watch the match on Big Ten Plus. That 2nd set was hard to watch. Purdue was rolling and then just hit a wall. Purdue was maybe 9-1 or something and then Purdue made error…after error…after error. I think I heard the commentators said 8 errors in set 2 alone? Purdue has shown how dominant that they can be…but they just need to be consistent and harness it and keep their foot on the pedal. This team is still learning and experiencing. They can only get better and I am here to watch them and cheer my heart out.

Well, they certainly didn’t play as tough a non-con as their main B1G competitors. But I think it worked out great to be able to get this new group a chance to start working together and gain some confidence by winning together. Now, it’s go time.

Crazy that she was lightly recruited. I remember watching the AAU finals and she was the obvious go-to. On the other side I think their go-to was Wrobel or someone. Eva didn’t hit as hard, but she carried a heavier load and was just a more complete player. So glad she is a boiler now and to think Chicoine will be joining next year. Being second best is paying off!

Not surprised and not shocked that Purdue dropped out of the top 10. HC Shondell said that Purdue is top 20 but top 10 is too high for Purdue at this time. I forget where I heard it…most likely during the Dig City podcast.

Lingenfelter (Munciana) has said she may be the best player he’s ever coached! That’s a huge statement considering the top players and NCAA All Americans he’s helped produce.

I am just surprised that more NCAA coaches didn’t try to recruit her. I don’t know anything about her personally. She seems like a great team player. The team was really feeding off of her energy. I thought that she was more shy or timid. During the Ball State match, she really showed her personality. That last solo block was awesome and you got so hyped seeing her reaction.

Well I dig it. Is Warren planning on redshirting? Word has it she can ball but lacks the ball control.

Well I dig it. Is Warren planning on redshirting? Word has it she can ball but lacks the ball control. My guess is both Warren and Carr are redshirting. There is a decent amount of depth at the pins, especially with Rastovski. The middles should be fine with Clayton, Colvin, Meyers.

Great press conference with Coach Shondell this week where he touches on a lot of things I was thinking about after that Ball State game:
1. It wasn't a great passing performance, which limited Renner a lot. It became the Eva Hudson Show out of necessity instead of giving Renner an opportunity to get the ball to others. 2. Missed connections with the middles. It was really bad on Saturday. The passing didn't help, but there were plays in transition where rhe sets to the middle were all over the place. 3. Renner is doing great, but needs to be more aggressive in the front row. She's really good at attacking on the 2nd ball and I'd love to see it more, especially since she's playing against the queen of dumping (Shaffmaster) on Friday.
Bonuses: 4. Chinn is back! Loved Coach Shondell's comments on the kind of player she's become this season and why she's needed on the floor. 5. Meyers/Rastovski are really stepping it up.
