Being ranked in the top 8 and making the elite 8 is not exceeding expectations it’s meeting them. Exceeding would a team like Nebraska, not ranked in the top 4 but making it to the semis and then the NC Being ranked in the top 8 is exceeding expectations for any coach other than a handful. (Stanford. Nebraska. Texas..) Being in the Elite 8 is the same. It’s an incredible achievement. I’m not saying it isn’t but they proved all year long that they were that good. Their ranking proved that they were expected to make it to the elite 8. Purdue gets top recruits it’s not like they had a bunch of low level recruits that had some crazy Cinderella run. They beat Wisconsin twice. I don’t think a team ranked in the top 8 making the elite 8 is exceeding expectations it is quite literally meeting them

Purdue fans are happy with the team and Coach Shondell and Co. Purdue has always been on the edge of making history. I would LOVE for Purdue to reach the Final 4/National Championship at least once before Coach Shondell and Co. leave. It’s always “next year will be our year…” I would like Purdue to get theirs and earn their way deep into the tourney. I truly believe that it will happen, but I hope that it happens sooner rather than later since Coach Shondell and Co. aren’t getting any younger.

Teams playing on their home court in volleyball have the home court advantage! In NCAA women’s basketball, there is no home court advantage and all Final Four teams must advance to the Final Four by winning on a neutral court.

Newton was only recruited by small schools, IU, and Purdue. Otec wasn’t approached by any high level programs. Jael Johnson was never viewed as a strong recruit. Purdue has a lot of “low level recruits”, but Shondell develops players at another level. To think differently is ignorance in my opinion. Purdue is just now getting big name recruits with players like Chicoine and Hudson (the last huge recruit would’ve been Alexa Smith).

Quick update on the Kentucky match:
* Purdue lost 1-3 (23-25, 19-25, 23-25, 29-27) * Looks like Ellis and Koch had really good offensive matches * Schermerhorn was at libero * Colvin seems to be taking on a leadership for the team

Wow close games. What incoming players will start for Purdue? Kentucky was also playing with No outside hitters lol. Tealer was playing left side and she is not comfortable there at all. Stumler was the other OH and they were instructed to use her the least possible. She was getting DSd and rarely got set. Overall, Both of these teams will be very different in the fall with the transfers and freshman they are getting

Rollins and either lamb or Melby will be the starting OHs, tealer will be back in the middle and whitworth the ‘22 libero commit from kiva could potentially see time as a right back DS.

I just read on Twitter that John Shondell thinks that his daughter Allie Shondell is setting like he set in his Junior year in college. I am guessing that he is training her to be just as good if not better than him in college. Does anyone know if Allie is even considering going to Purdue? I thought that her teammate Chloe would never don a Purdue uniform after committing to PSU, but she chose to commit to Purdue. What are the rules on recruiting for family members? Not sure how difficult it would be to Coach your own niece or daughter. I know that Lindsay did play for her father back in the day…I wonder if Allie will also play for the Old Gold and Black.

I don't know the rules but I think Allie would be a phenomenal get for Purdue. I definitely hope they're on her radar.

Wow close games. What incoming players will start for Purdue? I think the pins are pretty set, though I won't put it past someone to challenge Chinn for that OPP spot or even Koch for the 2nd OH position. Clayton will definitely have that 2nd MB spot with Colvin, though I'm hearing great things about Meyer's improvement. Interested to see if Renner holds the setter spot as well as Schermerhorn at libero. Really depends on how Brown/Hornung hold up in serve receive. I think that's what gives Schermerhorn the slight advantage.
