Dropped both sets to WKU? Hmmmm Wku has been solid for years now and Purdue is down 4 players who played the entire time, plus two others who saw significant time. And it’s spring volleyball… everyone looks like a mess right now no need to worry

Yea but you fail to mention WKU graduated their starting setter and 2nd best attacker on the RS. As well as Libero. Matthew’s their middle is the kill leader but they aren’t completely loaded.
But I digress. Spring doesn’t count. But sometimes it can point to potential holes in the matrix.

Yes that is true but Purdue lost their starting all American setter, their two best all american pins, a very solid middle, one of the best liberos in the ncaa, and they’re best defensive specialist. I’m pretty sure only two players who saw significant time from Purdue’s 2021 team are returning and one of them wasn’t that effective anyways. I like Purdue and I’m sorry to break it to you, I don’t think they’re gonna be battling at the top of the big 10 in a couple months

It will be interesting for sure. They seem to have solid back court defense, but with a new setter and with nobody outside of Colvin as a returning offensive contributor they certainly have their work cut out for them. I think Colvin will emerge as the primary offensive weapon (but only plays half the game) but with a new setter and Libero that could complicate matters.

The only problem with a middle being a teams best option is that they have to pass well all year for her to be a factor. They lose 3 primary passers so we’ll what shondell whips up

Currently listening to the Dig City podcast that Dave Shondell does roughly once a month. There’s a few things he said that I wanted to share because they seem to be going under the radar.
Taylor Trammell transferred and Shondell said he still has no idea why that happened. I find that very interesting.
He also said Molly Brown and Savana Chacon will be entering the transfer portal due to playing time.
Edit: Molly Brown has transferred to Texas A&M.

It was going to be hard for her to crack into the starting line-up. Chacon is interesting. With what we have for the back row, I thought she might get some time. Her serve receive during the spring matches wasn't really great but I still thought, depending on how Schermerhorn, Emily Brown, and Hornung do, she wasn't completely out of the picture. Maybe she really wants to go somewhere where she can win the libero jersey?

Actually I don't think this is uncommon in the era of the portal. Players transferring to somewhere else is common, perhaps. Not having a conversation with a player to understand why she's wants a change should be uncommon...otherwise, why do you coach?

Actually I don't think this is uncommon in the era of the portal. It’s not uncommon for players to transfer, but for the coach to have “no idea” is extremely uncommon. I don’t fully believe shondell has no idea, couldn’t imagine he didn’t ask why when she told him she was leaving. And also couldn’t imagine she answered that with “I’m not telling you” i think he knows the reason or at least part of it and maybe it isn’t for public knowledge. That’s my guess and then he was put on the spot when asked about it and just said he didn’t know

I think he knows now, but when it happened I don't think he knew the reasons. Players do not have to communicate with coaches that they're transferring, after all.

Boilers finished in the top ten this year. This was the year the Huskers won the conference championship, but inexplicably lost to Kansas State in the second round. At home.
