Well,...it wasn't exactly pretty but CAL POLY got its 16th conference victory. Playing sparingly was Amy Hiatt,...one set. Avalon DeNecochea was used only in a serving role. Next up on Friday the Wahine. Check that,...win #13.

Coach Walters has been doing some tweaking to the line up lately.
Whether this is due to an injury to a DS/L player or just hoping for a better resolve time will tell.
CAL POLY's Amy Hiatt, OH, had a very good match last Sat,...a week ago Thursday she had a great match. But,...last Tues she hardly played one set. Making one think she is still nursing some kind of injury!!!
POLY will need her on Friday if they are to have any chance against UH.

I remember her! She was so good Yes,...she was very good. It won't be long before Maia Dvoracek is also inducted.

Are they running their Triple Crown NIVC this year? Great chance for teams like Poly or UCSB to make some post season noise. But since it's geographic usually, they might cannibalize each other before the Finals.

Now that UH has been selected,...and the BWC is a one team conference,...time to look to next season,...2023.
CAL POLY's head coach Walters need to look hard into finding three position players in the "portal".

UH wasn't "selected." They earned their spot in the NCAA Tournament.

Why aren't we in NIVC? The whole program needs an overhaul.

Why aren't we in NIVC? The whole program needs an overhaul. I don't understand this comment. Poly over the last five years is one of the top two programs (after Hawaii) in the Big West I agree the non-conf scheduling needs to be tweaked Walters has a difficult road ahead and needs to pull in a xfer for next year big-time. Why is the NIVC such a bid deal for Poly. Why would they want to play in that?. Finals is next week, they played last week. these two weeks are the hardest for students, so why play some exhibition matches that nobody will ever remember. See above, Walters should spend every hour right now preparing for recruiting, not tyring to deal with more travel and prep for a tournament that won't enhance the program, and players may not well even care about anyway. It's not like the program is doing poor, and agree I think it might be at a bit of cross-roads after the Van Winden and Dvoracek eras are over. just injecting NIVC into the discussion is silly.

It seems to me CAL POLY's program has been hurt from injuries more than anything else over the past two seasons. In 2021 it was Dvoracek,...in 2022 it was Hiatt, Thalken and DeNecochea (to some degree). If, these players were able to play all of 2022 season,...good chance POLY would be the BWC,...not UH!!! Be that as in may,...injuries are part of every team's program and must be an accepted eventuality. What CAL POLY's head coach has not done is prepare for that yearly eventuality. Coach Walters has NOT recruited sufficient quality depth in the right positions. If you examine POLY's roster for 2022 it is full with players that added nothing during 2022 and will add nothing for 2023. Seven players for the most part never saw the court and three others were fighting nagging injuries,...some ten ladies. Ten out of an active roster of eighteen players suited up and never worked up a sweat.

Not good, but not bad considering all your injuries. I'm sure NEXT year will be a different story. Go Green!

I like his enthusiasm. If Hawaii’s Ikenaga was not injured and was available for Cal Poly’s first match , Hawaii would have swept your team. I do agree with you, injuries change any team’s dynamic.

Poly's issue was horrific receiving & Passing. not an injury issue, IMO, in fact Bullis is more mobile than Denochea and that didn't get them over the hump Hawaii & Beach had injuries as well

And yes! If she played in every set it would have made a big difference. She proved it playing in the last set at UH and scoring 8.5 pts,....583 hitting pct. No one on either side had those kind of numbers in any one set!!! Soph. Thalken another player who came on strong end of 2021. I'm sure coach Walters expected her to be a strong contributor in 2022. She never played in a single set all 2022,...and will probably redshirt. Receiving and passing,...yes needs work. However,...when you can end a long rally before it gets started with a block or kill,...passing becomes a far less priority. CAL POLY completely out played UH in SLO,...no one player was going to change that outcome.
