Hard to argue that Poly’s downfall was their passing and overall backrow play. They had the best outside terminating tandem in the conference so putting down balls was not an issue. Blocking could have been better but not the reason for them not winning the title.
The coaching staff has a lot of work to do for next season and probably needs some upperclassman transfers for immediate help. Hawaii will be the run away favorite next season but hopefully the other top teams can plug some holes.

i disagree, I don't see how Hiatt, or Denecochea would have fixed the fundamental problem of passing, maybe Dueck staying might have helped. Poly's issue was horrific receiving & Passing. not an injury issue, IMO, in fact Bullis is more mobile than Denochea and that didn't get them over the hump Hawaii & Beach had injuries as well I bring up Hiatt because of her blocking and killing ability,...not because she is a great passer. And yes! If she played in every set it would have made a big difference. She proved it playing in the last set at UH and scoring 8.5 pts,....583 hitting pct. No one on either side had those kind of numbers in any one set!!! Soph. Thalken another player who came on strong end of 2021. I'm sure coach Walters expected her to be a strong contributor in 2022. She never played in a single set all 2022,...and will probably redshirt. Receiving and passing,...yes needs work. However,...when you can end a long rally before it gets started with a block or kill,...passing becomes a far less priority. CAL POLY completely out played UH in SLO,...no one player was going to change that outcome. A great attacker? Have you ever watched her play? so who would she have replaced, and what would Walters have done about her passing?

Funny you stated that no UH player would have changed the outcome in SLO but prior to that you said that if some CP players were not injured they would have won the BWC. You need some consistency here. There is a lot of what ifs caused by injuries and it’s not exclusive to the Mustangs. Move on and prep/recruit for next season because your team is going to need it really bad.

CAL POLY's coaching staff better get busy on the transfer portal trail and find some studs to replace Dvoracek and Phillips and equal the abilities of Stockham and Hiatt. Clean house of some of the young players that will be projects and start looking for experience and maturity that will compete against the P5 conferences.

How good is UHawaii and how good was the BW Conference in 2022?
The Wahine will test their team against LSU out of the SEC on Friday.
On paper UH in 4.

One and done for the Big West Champs,...pretty sad. Will admit they played a very sloppy match. Not prepared for some reason. CAL POLY's HC Walters, whom I'm sure watched the LSU v UH match, better start taking some serious notes for her team in 2023. She needs to do some house cleaning and player re-evaluating if she expects to get into the 2023 postseason!

This year and in 2018 against Baylor at Oregon.

We can only assume POLY's program operates with a full complement.

I guess Walters then hasn't been serious with her note-taking up until now. maybe someone should buy her a new note-pad for Xmas!

Are they schollie players??? gopoly.com/news/2022/11/9/womens-volleyball-cal-poly-volleyball-signs-two-to-national-letters-of-intent.aspx

You can't say they're not going to be impact players. Maia didn't start making an impact until her Junior season. Give these players a chance, Jake.

Because a team winning the conference isn’t playing their best volleyball ? Ridiculous as usual!

Because a team winning the conference isn’t playing their best volleyball ? Ridiculous as usual! yes, in last decade in MBB Long Beach would have got 4 bids to teh NCAAs if it was the same as WVB. so I guess that bad 'ol Big West has been out there to get Long Beach for some time!!!

Will CAL POLY's Lady'Stangs be a better team in 2023???
This must be the question the POLY coaching staff needs to be asking.
With the departure, due to graduation, of their main scoring machine and two other outstanding players what can CAL POLY fans expect?
