Tufono reminds me of the Arizona setter a couple of years ago Penina Snuka. Such a scrappy setter with a real big court presence. I can see her getting some good reps behind Mckissock (sp?) learning the game and being a really good option in the future. Both OH’s look to have a ton of potential as well.

I think it would be great to see Olson hit at OPP. I think the highlight reel only has a few examples of it, maybe on a serve- receive rotation. Anyone have any insight on her blocking abaility?

When will the first weekend of play be for Fall 2022? Last weekend of August? Yes, UCLA historically has done a few matches in August, then does a slate of matches in Hawaii for a pre-season tourney.

I know this thread was set up to look to the future of this program, but saw that NCAA uploaded the 2011 Championship match yesterday:
For folks who were following the 2011 season closely, was this a fairly unexpected outcome for the Bruins? I imagine beating Penn State and Texas on their way to the Final Four had to have been huge deal at the time.

I imagine beating Penn State and Texas on their way to the Final Four had to have been huge deal at the time. This was the year I started playing/got super into volleyball, and it also set me up to being a UCLA fan for life(kinda lol). Honestly happy to have seen this come up because looking back, there were some Sealy choices that were made which is so characteristic of him now as we know. Firstly I wouldn’t say it was unexpected, UCLA was playing at a really high level especially in the middle of the season when they upset #1 Stanford and #2 Cal (I might have them backwards) and proceeded to rise to #2 in the following poll. However towards the end of the conference play, I think they lost a couple games, and then Sealy decides to switch to a 6-2 for the remaining couple games of the season (this setter switchup ended after they got swept by USC on senior night). Then they started playoffs back in their usual rotation, and while they were definitely considered underdogs to both Penn State and Texas, as soon as they won i think that really helped them (and fans) believe they could win the Natty. I think USC would’ve been their biggest threat, but they got knocked out by Illinois. Anyways, what I meant to sum up is that Sealy continues his setter carousel anytime his team is barely on the struggle bus. Lol Anyone else have any particular memories of this year/team?

I remember Zoe Nightingale having a monster blocking night in the championship match. Also, Aquino wasn't great offensively, so it was reported that Dan O'Dell told Sealy to sub in Sage in the fourth set. Sage ended up with 6 kills in that set alone.
