San Francisco is still undefeated at 4-0 after sweeping Louisiana Tech in tight sets. Pacific (2-3) lost in four to UIC. Portland (3-1) is up 2-1 vs Hofstra at the moment. LMU took the first set over Ole Miss 25-19. Kudos to them. Santa Clara just starting vs Wyoming (4:30pm PT) San Diego dropped the first set 18-25 to a hot Louisville team. Portland now up 23-11 on their way to a 4-set win over Hofstra to get to 4-1 on the season! (And they take it 25-13. Nice start to the season, Pilots!) Santa Clara took the first set over Wyoming 25-21 LMU was knotted at 21 but got to 25-21 in the second set vs Ole Miss to go up 2-0. This would be a very nice win for them. San Diego spanked Louisville 25-13 in the second set to even the match at 1-1 |

LMU pulled out a sweep of Mississippi -19, -21, -18. Geissberger had a fabulous match with 18 kills at .300. No one else in the match had double digits.
LMU hit .274 for the match and held Ole Miss to .074 hitting.
Santa Clara is up 2-0 over Wyoming 25-21, 25-20, but trailing 13-14 in the third set.
San Diego, after spanking Louisville in the second set, got themselves spanked to a 11-25 third set. They trail 1-2 in the match but are knotted at 14 in the fourth set.
SMC lost the first set 11-25 to San Jose State. They trail 14-16 in the second set.

USD lost a very tight 24-26 fourth set to drop their first match 1-3 to #3 Louisville. They have shown themselves to be a very respectable team.
Santa Clara pulled out a 4 set win over Wyoming to move to 2-2. Julia Sangiacomo had an impressive 26 kills hitting .396, with 2 aces, 7 digs and a block.

San Francisco pulled out a 5-set win over Seattle U.
Saint Mary's lost in 4 sets. Hawley Harrer went an amazing 19/0/40 to hit .475 in the loss.
BYU is on track to beat Cincinnati in 4 sets. Livingston is currently 15/0/30.
Pepperdine is up 2-1 over UCSB, early in the 4th set.

BYU 3-1 over Cincinnati. Livingston had 17 kills at .444 and Eden Bower had 13 at .290
Gonzaga lost to Nevada in 4 sets to drop to 1-4
Pepperdine beat UCSB in 4. Hellmuth had 12 kills at .226 and Meg Brown had 11 kills at .348. Pepperdine hit .163 for the match.

I have nothing against BYU volleyball, which is a high quality program (sorry one idiot distracted from that), but I hope LMU, Pepperdine and San Diego can be good this season, which may be the case, and push the Cougars! Good teams throughout the country and across conferences is good for volleyball!

Good teams throughout the country and across conferences is good for volleyball! Especially since this is BYU's last year in the WCC. The rest of the teams need to step up to keep the conference highly competitive. |

Bringing this lovely piece of work forward to the current page. Thanks Zazu Pacific swept Eastern Illinois, hitting .253 and holding Eastern Illinois to negative hitting. Portland easily swept Butler. Pepperdine is about to start set 2 against SDSU, having won the first set 25-18. Edit: Pepperdine persevered to sweep SDSU with a 34-32 third set. Chillingworth, Hellmuth and Ahrens each had 11 kills. |

GREAT sweep of #8 tOSU by #15 San Diego. USD was up 2-0 but trailed 14-19 in the third before making a dramatic comeback to take the third set 28-26!
Frohling and Edwards each had 13 kills, and Lukes added 11.
Londot had 19 kills for tOSU
Gonzaga beat CSUN 3-1. Thiros and Croft each had 12 kills, and Hughes had 11.
(*Santa Clara plays at 4:30 pm PT, since Arizona is currently the same time as PDT...also for tomorrow's match at 2pm)

Santa Clara had an easy sweep of Idaho. Spaar (9/0/14 for .643) and Tulino (9/3/15 for .400) led the Broncos. 4 additional hitters had 3 kills and no errors in the match, as they seemed to be cycling players through for experience. San Francisco is up 2-1 on Fresno State with the 4th set about to start. **Isadora Nicolai is setting, rather than Ayub?? I hope Ayub did not get injured. Nicolai is listed on the roster as an opposite from Brazil. (San Francisco looks like the teams of old with 9 international players on the roster.) The big BYU - Pitt rematch begins in 15 minutes. The WCC could go unbeaten today.  Go BYU! |

San Francisco eked out a 15-13 fifth set win over Fresno State. Anyone have the scoop on what happened to their setter, Ayub?
BYU lost the first set to Pitt... in danger of wrecking a perfect day for the WCC. Pitt looks much better than last week!

#7 BYU dropped their re-match to #10 Pitt. It was clear that they were fighting hard, but Pitt was the better team tonight. However, it was a very good day for every other WCC team.
The matches between BYU and San Diego are going to be fascinating.... and Pepperdine is proving to be no slouch either.

Great to see three ranked WCC teams in this week's poll
BYU at #10
San Diego at #12
Pepperdine at #24
And then there seems to be a large drop off. It will be very good if LMU, Santa Clara (pre-season #4 and 5 picks) and all the others can bring in a strong pre-conference record. (There is a huge variability in difficulty of pre-conference schedules.)
