Over enthusiastic players make me nervous. One never knows when someone may pull a Rettke and accidentally hit a teammate in celebration. Yeah, I'm the same. Florida players went a little nuts after routine plays. Are we supposed to root for that? Higher highs mean lower lows

My guess is that they don’t give a rats a$$ whether you root for them or not!

I'm glad to see Essix starting out well. I've been high on her potential for a while.

Both teams looked a little geeked to play each other nerves and silly errors. Serving on both sides was less than desirable. Would love to hear what the coaching staff said to Miner at the break it seemed she was forcing the middle after set 2 and it didn’t quite get there. I don’t think Ogilvie got enough recognition she was really solid back there. Stanford blocking really helped them time and again. Baird seemed to let all the missed challenges to shake her mentally. I was very impressed with Rubin she will do her job nicely and she can score and was so smart a great addition at OH2. Stanford has a very high ceiling if they can get it all clicking. What impressed me most was their resilience. I am not sure how many set points Florida blew in the first but it was a lot. Kipp was solid I think Miners RS placement could use some work maybe set her a little higher. Francis looks so much more comfortable in the middle the connection can get better with Miner and the block whew that’s a wall.
For Florida, Stucky had a lot of wow moments but I felt she cooled off as the match went on. Floridas middles had some great swings. Markova and Beason can be better the RS seemed almost non existent, they really need to learn to close big leads and learning to finish a set is where the youth showed. I think Florida should win the SEC after playing second fiddle to Kentucky recently. They also have a high ceiling.
Excited to see both these teams seasons pan out. It was an entertaining and at times ugly match to start the season. Both teams have plenty of opportunities to flex or learn as their schedules continue to be challenging.

Match point was an eighth grade affair. Yup. I've watched the replay like 5 times and still laughed each time. Epic!

I am watching a recorded 4th game finish and the Florida OH (syracuse trans) terminating swing on OOS set from difficult angle : wow!!

Minus the serving errors this match was fun to watch. High energy.

Why it wasn't a Stanford blowout: Have to serve tough if Stucky is bettering balls on the other side of the net

How many times have you ever seen a team get aced 4 times in the fifth and still win?

Mostly pretty encouraging for Stanford, except for the passing and serving. And at times- particularly in the third set- it seemed like the only way they could keep the ball on the court was to get it blocked; as a strategy it proved ineffective; I hope not to see it again. Overall a B; it's been a long wait to see this team mesh; this group looks like they may make it. Rubin looks like a keeper. Florida doesn't seem to have any real holes, they'll be fine.

Both teams look like improved versions of the 2021 teams. Should be a fun season to watch both progress.
