i would say so! Coley is good, but Dan is a lot more analytical. Interested to see if Erin brings in Coley as a Volunteer assistant? Erin and Coley have been friends for a very long time. yes they have been…these hires aren’t a massive surprise. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it!

Coley hasn't been added to the roster or coaches page within the Volleyball section of MGoBlue, but IS listed as the Director of Operations on their overall athletics staff directory. I'd imagine donors and important "friends of the program" will get an update once the other assistant and any other position (technical coordinator, volunteer) are filled. But I'd imagine we'd still see all those details here first (or at least accurately see them here first).

Volleyball can not have volunteer coaches: only paid coaches the volunteer will be phased out starting next year:

Interesting. I get the sense Manuel is on thin ice.

Interesting. I get the sense Manuel is on thin ice. Maybe negotiating this situation is why it took so long to part ways with the Rosens after the season. Everyone that I've been able to talk to about Mark's disposition after things went down said that he was in remarkable spirits all things considered. Knowing this information now leads me to believe UM had to pay him quite well to get out of that extension. Also should say: I'm quite tough on the lack of coverage from local media for non-football and men's basketball programs at Michigan, but this is an example of having a hard-nosed student paper like the Daily is extremely valuable.

The timing of the deal is interesting. It was signed around October 10 or so, right when the season started to head south. Four weeks later he coached his last match at home against Purdue and after a 2-8 skid took a leave of absence. Is Warde really paying this deal off? No wonder Mark has been seen around town with a smile on his face. The athletic department is a mess right now, scandal after scandal.

I guess that's the golden question: was he terminated with cause or not? From all of my experiences (a couple of chalk talks a year for the last 7 or 8 years), Mark always seemed to operate by the book. His tenure as the AVCA president would seem to confirm that. So unless there's a true scandal underneath the surface we're not privy to, I'd think he has to be getting paid in some way/shape/form. And yes, I know this is useless fodder at this point: the new hire has been made and I'm delighted by it. But since we have no real news of any interesting transfer visits or whether or not our grad transfers are staying, it's all we really have.

This is an oops on the SID's part because the DOVO posting is active until Friday, even though it's appears to be a formality.

I'm here for it avid 2.0 ! Now if we can just find a way to feed her the ball... I'll be interested to see what that move is for that final scholarship. YES, clearly, OH is the top need. I'd love to have Robinson back, but middle blocker is maybe the only area of depth with Boney and Nyambio (presumably) returning. Robinson is only following Duke (but not their recruiting coordinator), Howard (but non of thier staff), and Northwestern (and their recruiting coordinator) on Instagram. I'm not saying that tells the whole story, but could Robinson be down to Northwestern or returning?

I think JRob is a good example of how the extra year of eligibility is great for the student-athlete in theory, but hard practically. If she goes to any of those schools and is 1/4 of the way to a master's degree when she finishes the 2023 season, she's on the hook for AT LEAST half of her education. Some places would only offer aid for the season she plays. I don't know that this is necessarily the case for these specific institutions. It's just a recurring general problem as we've hit this era of Covid year student-athletes.

There are many programs / areas of study that offer that.
