Why would Eve leave UT unless UNC is going to seriously step up their investment level? Yup. She's in a way better spot where she is. Better money, better support, better current position in the conference. Besides, didn't she burn every bridge possible when she left?

Perhaps you have better information than I do. My understanding is that Eve is not currently a candidate. She may not be anymore....but I have very good information she was for a while of the process. UNC definitely contacted Eve about the position.

Why would Eve leave UT unless UNC is going to seriously step up their investment level? I've talked to recruits to UT and UNC, and the overall support from the athletic department seems much stronger at UT. I agree with you that they would have to at least match her pay and up their promised support, and even then its a lateral move that she would have to think seriously about. I know she played and coached at UNC but she isn't from there (from Northern California, I believe), so I don't know how deep her ties are to the area.

I understood you were talking about his motivations, and not whether or not you agreed with him. Sorry if that wasn't clear in my response.

I think we all can agree on the fact this hire is taking a while. Hopefully for good reason

They definitely are positioning themselves to tops in everything. They definitely have the resources, football money, potential NIL money and more.

Not saying I disagree just highlighting the Joe/Eve relationship since she left and the entire UNC staff went with her... Joe cannot be mad at her for that. She left for a promotion. He refused to promote Tyler because he was bringing in Mike as the first assistant. So, Tyler also left for a promotion. And he knew if Eve was leaving Gavin was leaving. That is ridiculous if that is what he's upset about. He cannot be mad at people leaving for promotions if he's not willing to advance them. I heard it from multiple people that Tyler wanted to stay at UNC but Joe refused to give him the jump. I'm not sure if she did anything else to burn bridges though. But I do remember a lot of the former players were very vocal in their support of Eve when she was named the head coach at Tennessee, and we lost a lot of players after she left. So she may be edgy, but it's hard to argue against the players liking her.

Excerpt from the SI story on Bubba hiring Erin Matson...
“I didn’t ever think I’d hire a 22-year-old,” Cunningham says with a smile. “But I also didn’t think I’d hire a 67-year-old football coach, either (Mack Brown, who has had four successful seasons during his second stint at the school). We talk about fit all the time. You may go into a process with a preconceived notion and come out with something else. I think about hiring a sitting head coach; that’s where I start [with every search], but the feedback from everyone on Erin was ‘absolute superstar.’”

Like imagine if I’m in an interview for a job I have no experience for and I tell someone I’m really good at Sudoku. Does that translate to editing the NYT’s puzzle section? Idk man.

I like can totally understand why people are completely up in arms and disapproving it but at the same time it’s like maybe she’ll be really good at it and that would be an awesome legacy to continue the tradition there. Idk I kinda like it for some reason but I get why it’s kinda crazy too

Idk I kinda like it for some reason but I get why it’s kinda crazy too I genuinely hope she succeeds wildly bc obv that’s a much more interesting outcome. No reason to want her to fail, it just feels a bit too “ok I’ve seen this before” to me.
