Have there been NCAA VB matches in football-capable stadiums (indoor or out) other than the 2005 Championship in the Alamodome?

Some people here who ate some really sour grapes today. This was always going to happen and good for the Nebraska Athletic Department who recognized that such a thing could be done, and in today's world, if you can do it, take a shot at it.
That being said, I kind of hope this one puts a kibosh on the record-trumping antics. Wisconsin was able to, and should have, grabbed the record last year but long-term it belongs in Nebraska and I hope they get 60,000 people for this to make it clear it's not going to be broken anytime soon.
The big thing I want to start seeing is good volleyball programs playing in good arenas. Places like Louisville, Michigan, and many others need to show they care about volleyball by making arenas that show it.

Every year the mens basketball Final Four is played in an NFL stadium and sells out. I’m not sure why volleyball would be worse than basketball to view from a distance. There is also more technique and nuance in volleyball that is harder to see from farther away. That feels like an extremely subjective statement. I am sympathetic to your point of view about what a terrible viewing experience it will be, but as someone who has seen many basketball games in stadiums, there are very few good seats. It's a horrific viewing experience. Heck, it was a terrible viewing experience if you got poor seats at the Frank Erwin Center, and that was UT's official basketball arena.

Beach volleyball is for the elements, not 6 on 6 indoor volleyball. What are they gonna do, put a sports court over the football turf!? Nebraska wasn’t willing to travel to a good opponent and risk a loss this week of the non-conference, so they hype a local match with this stunt? This just screams wanting more attention for a program that does not need it. Why do you care so much what Nebraska does? A lot of your posts (from what I've seen) continue to attack Nebraska, Cook and their program. Why? I don't understand why the fans of every program that ay2013 attacks insists that its some kind of personal vendetta. I saw this happen on the asterisk thread just a couple of days ago. The guy attacks his own favorite program as much as anyone else. The main thing I value about ay2013 is his authenticity. He's not out here trying to make friends. He calls things as he sees them. I respect that. I don't understand why it has to be something more than that.

There are several concerts I've been to in stadiums that don't sound good, ditto for WWE events etc. I don't suppose those will be any different.
I would loved for them to mic the court and then hear what a Whitney Lauenstein kill would have sounded like in a stadium.

so if they don't sell 85,000-plus (plus whatever on-field seats they add), does that mean their consecutive regular-season sold-out matches streak is ended? or have they already had a non-soldout match and that reference was for a previous streak?

Their sold-out streak is based on matches played at their normal arena. It doesn't include matches played at other locations. huskers.com/news/2023/2/24/volleyball-day-in-nebraska-coming-to-memorial-stadium-in-august.aspxThe Husker volleyball program has sold out 303 consecutive regular-season matches, though the Memorial Stadium match would not count toward the streak as it is being played outside the Huskers' main home facility, the Devaney Center. Nebraska's sellout streak is an NCAA women's record. The Huskers have led the nation in attendance every season since moving into the Bob Devaney Sports Center in 2013.

How crazy would it be if we actually got 80,000+ to come out for this? I know, probably not, but that’d be pretty historic. Pairing it with a concert is a great business move to make something really special come together. May August 30th be sunny and warm in Lincoln.

The streak is for home sellouts. Back in the day they would play at a pre-renovation Devaney that seated 13,000+ and they wouldn't sell that out. It didn't impact their home sellout streak since it wasn't in their home venue.

This just screams wanting more attention for a program that does not need it. Speaking of wanting more attention . . . your post is begging for it!

It's going to be really unfortunate when this match breaks both the volleyball and the Memorial Stadium sellout streaks.

Dang. I like VB because you can sit down low, close to the action, and you don't feel like a sardine.
I don't think I'd like it if I had to sit in the nose bleeds with an "assigned seat" which with my luck would be wedged between two former offensive linemen who had let themselves go since their playing days.
