It's the thirst for relevance that's got me giggling.... whats next? 2024: Match before the gold medal match in Paris 2025: Match played in Mars 2026: Match played with a diamond encrusted volleyball, those in attendance get a diamond ring... (eye roll) Girl, bye! Yes, Nebraska volleyballs constant struggle to stay relevant.

I mean baseball is kind of the quintessential "Old Man Yells at Cloud" sport and even they built a stadium in the middle of a corn field to pay tribute to a 30 year-old movie. It was event of the year. Nebraska thinks, "You know... maybe we could play a match outside?" Nope. One step too far. But the last I knew WI serves beer at their stadium. If so, discounted beer could possibly make any NE record short-lived. I believe it is the case that the people in the "luxury boxes" at Camp Randall or the Kohl Center can probably get beer brought to their box seats. But otherwise, no. Never. Beer is not sold generally in the buildings. WAY back when when the hockey team played their home games off campus at the Dane County Coleseum, the Colesuem people had permission to run a "beer garden" on the building level below ice level. So fans could run downstairs between periods, buy a beer (or two), slam them down, and then run back upstairs in time for the next period. You were absolutely NOT allowed to take the beer back to your seat with you.

Hey, I think it’s a cool idea either way, but I will note North Carolina and Michigan State agreed to play a men’s B-Ball game on the deck of a frickin’ aircraft carrier, and it doesn’t get any more blue blood than those two… that's fair. are those teams paid to play in those matches? Games. Basketball has games (I kid, I kid), but good question...I'd be surprised if there wasn't a financial incentive of some kind. Plus, unlike the Nebraska VB thing, the games are ostensibly on a neutral court, so no home-court advantage. I mean, it's an aircraft carrier: OK, I know this photo has nothing to do with Nebraska playing volleyball outdoors, I just thought it was pretty cool.

Sorry if this was already touched on in the thread, but the timing of this is odd. The day before the football season opener at Minnesota, so a lot of people who'd want to go to this will be traveling up to the Cities.
They couldn't have done this on Saturday, Sept. 2?

This is likely the best day for the four schools involved. That weekend is typically when Nebraska hosts the Ameritas Players Challenge. Odds are good they're booked that Saturday.

Coin toss to pick sides pre match? Wind is usually from the south/southeast so it’ll be more a cross wind Finally a use for the skyball in a hardcourt match!

I will personally sign anyone to an NIL deal who serves a skyball in this match. Sadly, it will not be nearly enough to cover the loss in scholarship money after Cook immediately cuts them

Back when they did the t-shirt contest in the Coliseum, I used to do a skyball up between the rafters. Looked really cool when I hit a shirt.
