Nebraska volleyball eyes attendance bump from outdoor match LINCOLN, Neb. -- Nebraska will attempt to set the NCAA volleyball attendance record next season when it plays an outdoor match in Memorial Stadium. The school announced Friday that the football stadium, which seats 85,000-plus, would host a doubleheader on "Volleyball Day in Nebraska" on Aug. 30. The Cornhuskers will play Omaha in a regular-season match, preceded by a Division II exhibition between Wayne State and Nebraska-Kearney. The attendance record is 18,755, set when Nebraska played Wisconsin in the 2021 national championship match in Columbus, Ohio. Wisconsin holds the record for largest regular-season crowd, drawing 16,833 for its match against Florida in September. The Cornhuskers have won five national titles and sold out an NCAA-record 303 consecutive regular-season matches. Does it ever rain in Lincoln in August/Sept.? Nebraska football fans will distinctly remember that it absolutely does rain in Lincoln in early September. I was on the twitter checking in with the local weather people. Matt Serwe, formerly of KETV, showed why that game was not being played that night. I got my dad out of the stadium and on his way home before the really bad stuff hit. |

Is Lincoln more like 'rains every day at some point' Minneapolis, or more what they might in California call 'high desert', like the Dakotas? |

Does Sheffield say uncle and give it a rest, or does he and Marquette do an American Family Field event (which the Badger basketball teams just did and which has no rain risk). Or does he say that the record isn't important when the viewing experience is ... really bad for most ? And of course UW Marquette, especially in Milwaukee instead of Madison, may not draw nearly as well as Memorial, but it'd be interesting to see how well it would. I really doubt he'd consider Camp Randall.

It definitely doesn't rain in Nebraska as much as it does in Minneapolis, although we don't get rain every day here either! Nebraska had actually been in a pretty intense dry spell the last few years, if memory serves. |

Our seats are in North stadium. We could see the lightning down south, but in the East Club you probably had an even better view. |

It definitely doesn't rain in Nebraska as much as it does in Minneapolis, although we don't get rain every day here either! Nebraska had actually been in a pretty intense dry spell the last few years, if memory serves. No but the wind sure blows. |

Next year, Michigan plays a single set of volleyball in Michigan Stadium during half time of the UM-OSU game and sets a record that literally can’t be broken. Bc that’s where things are now I guess. 😭
