UC Irvine should be the only team with consideration. UCLA and Penn St. have won their conferences. Irvine deserves that at-large regardless of their outcome. Do they need to beat UCLA to validate this? Lol. This isn’t a no brainer.

Ya'll I truly appreciate you going so hard for Irvine. I wish the selection was just based off the eye-test, but it's not.
The tournament is a numbers game and, unfortunately, UCI has fallen short. Kudos to Kniffen for believing in this squad enough to schedule so tough, but you gotta win some of those games too.
They had their chances against GCU. Penn State. Long Beach during conference play. But each time, they came up short.
Hell of a season for them, though. They would've made a great spoiler tournament team. Wish we could keep Gillis another year, but maybe Kniffen will figure it out by next season. Or not lol

But UCI was the last remaining standing out of them all after last night. I know the selection is mostly metrics but historically the committee had sensibly made exceptions. UCI is playing their best volleyball at the right time. They could spoil Hawaii or LB or OSU’s NCAA tourney hopes when they’re on fire. |
