I hope the Selection Committee tells LBSU and Knipe sorry not this year. You lost in the Conference Semi-Finals, not to mention in 3 sets, you do not deserve an At-Large bid. Love to see Knipe go so red in face.

And yesterday UCI was still behind GCU and probably BYU in a lot of the criteria the committee looks at for the at-large selection. Maybe yes, maybe not. But UCI was the last remaining standing out of them all after last night. I know the selection is mostly metrics but historically the committee had sensibly made exceptions. UCI is playing their best volleyball at the right time. They could spoil Hawaii or LB or OSU’s NCAA tourney hopes when they’re on fire. Oh they definitely could. I want them in. Been arguing it since mid-season. But I don't see it happening. Sadly 😕 |

UCI meets the eye test no doubt. But, in the criteria for selection they are well behind GCU. The committee would have to look past the criteria achieved over the totallity of the season, then explain to GCU they just aren't the prettiest hottie anymore. Being smart and having won by the numbers just doesn't stack up in the committee's eyes, they want the eye candy at their party.

All wins/losses are rolled up into all the other criteria. |

Tbh, I'd like to see UCI in and have both at large selections come from the BWC. But I have an inkling feeling they give it to GCU. Personally I would disagree with it. But the criteria they follow is not on UCI's side.
But on a more personal note, having UCI get that at large means they most likely will be placed on Hawaiis side of the bracket. And that scares me tbh. Lol
It would be extremely difficult to beat a team 4 times in a season. It really would be.

I’m actually surprised seeing so many people say UC Irvine is in over GCU, as much as I might like that to be true, it won’t happen. GCU will get the second bid, UCI had to win tonight to get into the tourney.
