Like I said, anyone who suggests this has obviously never operated/managed a facility. It just isn't practical, the AVP would want way too big of a cut, and if they handle this in any way shape or form similar to how they run their current operations, it is nothing but a nothing losing venture. Not to mention absolutely none of that works at all without a liquor license and some sort of actual kitchen and not just a concession stand, or a ticketed entry to every single tourney/event they run which would lead to another fight over revenue share of the gate. Dozens of people there daily where the AVP makes thousands of dollars a year off it sounds like a pipe dream two college stoners came up with because they don't want to find real jobs. This might work, but IF it did it would only be for a very short amount of time. I doubt dozens of people daily would even come close to covering the operations overhead in the offseason. It’s funny that halfway through reading this post I can tell who the author was (without checking) just by the whiny bitchy tone of it Love how you come in from time to time to complain about me posting facts about the reality of situations. Like when you pretended to be up to date knowing how IG algorithms worked in regards to reaching a larger social audience or limiting you reach, right? Please point out what was whiny about laying out exactly where the failures will come and how they could find success, and feel free to add on your opinion rather than just name call.

1- Completely agree. I think my format would allow for the same thing though, but the best teams would have to bring their A game off the rip because opponents will throw everything at them. There will be a sense of desperation from those lower seeded opponents because they know they can't climb back up in a single elim. If the best team is not fully prepared for the onslaught, then they're probably not the best team for that tournament. Sure, there can be off days but that's sport. Teams can get beat any given day. It is the "best team's" job to show why they are the best. The whole point of this format is to make it extremely difficult to win the tournament. You can't lose any matches and have to win 4 straight to win it all. That difficulty is what will make it highly entertaining. The level of play will heighten each round. Teams who are truly prepared and the most desperate will win. As fans, we'll just be happy to witness it all. 2- I think my format will keep teams invested too. That same desperation to not lose in a single elim will remain the same if they do lose because now those teams would have to fight to earn the most points they can. It could be to either improve their seeding or prevent them from falling too far down it. So, if you're a top team and you're "checked out" in your next 3 placement matches, it's just going to hurt your seeding. Not to mention, you're playing for the most prize money you can get as well. Every team will be jockeying for position. Imagine you're a 16th seed, you lose your first match and are out of the contention but can improve your seeding by beating teams you feel like you're on par with. You earn your way into playing top teams as close to the end of the tournament as possible. 3- Like you said, casual fans only care about who still has a shot to win it all. That's what the single elimination bracket for! Can't get any simpler than following a single elim bracket. Placement matches are completely separate from it. The single elim matches will be the most featured (stadium court, all matches aired, saved for night matches in my 2 day format) for all fans. Placement matches would be for the invested fan. Maybe you're a fan of a team and are bummed that they're out of the tournament. Placement matches gives you an opportunity to watch them 4x. On top of that, against 4 different opponents. Would be great to bet on too! Think of filling out placement bracket challenges along with all the other stuff you can bet on. Did I sell you on it? Not quite. I'm happy to debate it in theory, but in practice this system doesn't really solve an existing problem, which the AVP already has plenty of. I would say that they have much bigger fish to fry, but I wouldn't even call the double elim format a fish at all. If you want to identify what the biggest fish are, it's the ones that the players and fans yell the loudest about (including in this thread): more events & money, night matches, and logical live streaming. I've never heard anyone ask for more matches for the losers and fewer for the winners.

whats stopping the AVP from opening their own? having a home base? around me there are 6 complexes with at least 4 courts within a 2 hour drive. random question, what area do you live with all those facilities? just curious, I live in Newport Beach, CA so I just play in the SoCal beaches but wonder how it is out elsewhere (especially BFE) I live in New Orleans. we have Coconut Beach (20 courts) and White Sands (7 courts) just outside the city, Point Break (4 courts) in Slidell ~40 minutes away, Spikes (5, with one inside) in Covington (1 hr), Mangos (12?) / Beach Bums (idk) / Backyard (6?) in Baton Rouge (1.5 hr). they all have bars/restaurants attached.

Private messages are a cowards way out, same thing I have told Lee, southbeach/hesback, and now this under 30 post hypocrite. My posts were regarding a conversation that was being had here in the open, the point of a message board. I would rather people out themselves for everyone to see and absolutely hate that deleting posts is an option and that your post history stops at a certain point.

Douchy sounding. And arrogant. For real, take your personal beef to DM and know that none of us think you're a coward for doing so. Be courageous and do it

If you have something to say, type it out so everyone can have context for the next time something is posted. Regardless if it is on Twitter, Reddit, here, etc., hiding in the DM's and not giving anyone full context to a conversation is a cowards move. All my posts, whether people like them or not, are out in the open unless it contains sensitive information and I think that should be a standard for anyone who participates in online conversations. These couple back and forth is nothing compared to a multiple page conversation we had about Troy Field and Miles Evans fundamentals and volleyball background and no one said take that to the DM, my replies literally were prevalent to the conversation being had here too. I will never understand people clamoring for conversations to go private or a mod being tagged to lock a thread because people are incapable of skipping over a post they don't care for with the exception of posters literally being harassed like some people do in the threads to sexual assault survivors who speak up.

See what I just posted, so skip over it - there are plenty of arguments and conversations I absolutely don't care for and think are annoying but you won't ever find me saying take it to the DM's or snitching to a mod to lock a thread. I literally laid out facts, and logical points as to why a permanent site wouldn't be viable or why clubs/bars wouldn't want to do it - which was literally pertaining to the conversation that was being had. The fact that poster got all worked up about my response and started calling names is not my problem, but I also won't sit there when they are guilty of what they accuse me without pointing it out.

I've wondered if the AVP should try running tournaments at college facilities. seems like that would greatly limit the setup costs of running a tournament off the beach while allowing them to sell tickets unlike on the beach. maybe there are too few with enough seating, parking, etc?

I attached an image of how the bracket looks like because I feel like it's confusing you a little bit or maybe I just didn't explain it well enough. Each team will be playing the same number of matches but with different implications. I made this up with higher seeded teams winning their matches. Check it out. That's a neat illustration. You explained it well enough the first time and I got the jist, but this is super clear. I still have the same problems with it. My biggest problem is still that 16/32 (50%) of all games have no path or impact on the championship, so why play them? For better or worse, the idea of sport hinges on the concept of a determining an ultimate winner. None of the other major pro sports (NBA, NFL, MLB, NHL, PGA, ATP) play off for 3rd, let alone last. Yes, the AVP has a unique points system that awards a points scale to determine future seeding, but double elimination already defines a lot of places for you, and the scale flattens out after 5th anyway. Even if the athletes did care about the extra matches or the extra money, it's all about the fans, and I simply do not believe that casual fans would watch it. Hardcore fans like you and me might watch these out-of-contention matches, as well as the friends and families of the players, but we'll watch almost anything. The AVP need to optimize the experience for the average fan, and average fans care about the ultimate winner. Your system cuts the number of games relevant to that average fan in half, and that fan represents the large majority of your audience.
