Nope. Averill fought through his confidence issues but Ensing just could not nor really connect with Ma'a it seems. Hanes has made strides for sure and is a dangerous serving sub. K. Russell was not the future nor the answer. As with most all here my money đź’° is on Gabi to secure that OPP 2 spot for Paris and on into the future, which has the potential to be a very viable replacement for MA down the road into L.A 2028. Aaron, TJ are locks for OH the next 5 years. I would like to see a few younger players come into the mix sooner than later. Just wonder how are you so confident that Gabi is the OPP 2 spot? Any secret report from the gym? Of course hope that he can make Paris and help Matt relieve pressure! We need to make sure Aaron, TJ does not get hurt a lot... please... and it seems Speraw does not care about developing younger players...sigh.... I think Speraw wants to develop talent and does what he can to do so, I have seen that there are lots of young guys in the gym for all the lower U23, U21 and college teams and he coaches the top team in college right now so he sees all the next generation of players on the daily. This is the year that the focus gets narrow so it makes sense to give hours to guys that are not going to contribute in this quad. Recent VNL seasons, focus was a little wider and newer guys got more time but this year they needed to use each match to tighten up the team and I don't think we could afford to put out lineups to develop 2025 and beyond starters. There are guys in the pipeline, I wish the OH category was a little fuller but lots of guys working hard year round and I have confidence there will be a crop of talent after 2024 to fill in the needed spots. It was posted here earlier that Gabi was rumored to be a top performer in the gym this past year. Paris roster is close to set and I think Speraw has done a great job with what the USA pipeline has supplied.

I think Garrett may have solidified a place in Paris today with his performance against France. Came in when TJ was struggling and got France out of system consistently and had some clutch swings to win it.

But there is no question for Paris he needs to be in the 4. There is no one else ready to contribute and he isn’t the greatest but he is the best guy for the spot right now.

I was just looking at the US roster, and it appears most of the US players play professionally in Poland, with a smattering in Türkiye, followed by Russia and Japan/China. I only really watch the Italian league because it’s on Volleyballworld. Why don’t more Americans play in Italy (or at least this past year)? Italy in general took a drop in talent this past year due to drop in wages and the newer government tax on sport clubs. China offered big bucks on a shortened season. Next year they will be back to a full length season but I'm not sure you will see big names go there as it's not ideal living. I don't expect many top players and no USA players to go Russia again. Things are so unstable there.Japan can offer a ideal and lucrative situation for players who don't need the high level sharpening competition but very hard to land a spot there. Turkey is up and coming and Poland's support and level of competition within the league has jumped exponentially. Italy may regain the top destination status but players have Manny more options and factors to weigh ....which is a plus. A Russian sports outlet is reporting that Anderson is transferring to Ziraatbank so it's looking like Christenson will be the only American in the Russian league next season.

I’m sure Micah makes excellent money with Zenit, but moreso than that he consistently says he feels safe in Kazan and the club takes great care of him

Gabi sat behind Zaytsev most of the season in Italy, right? I only watched sporadically on VBTV, and only happened to catch one or two times he subbed in after Zaytsev got injured. Does anyone who knows more about Lube know if this was done because of foreigner limits, or where Gabi ranked in skills on that team? Nope. Gabi struggled to be terminal this past season for sure I'm not sure he was ever consistently starting, and when he did, definitely was unable to make the most of it and was behind Zaytsev as a result

A Russian sports outlet is reporting that Anderson is transferring to Ziraatbank so it's looking like Christenson will be the only American in the Russian league next season. Update: "As Anderson's representative in Russia, I do not have such information. In Europe, Matt's business is handled by my partner, and he did not inform me about other offers to the player. For now, these are rumors and speculations. With "Zenith" we also did not have any conversations on this topic. The player is expected in the team. He has another year of contract with Zenit, which he planned to work out. If he wants to break the contract, he will have to pay a penalty of 950 thousand dollars. This is a very serious amount that is unlikely to be pulled by any club, ”Rezvanov said in an interview with BO Sport."
This went through google translate - I don't speak Russian. I'm always interested to see a dollar amount attached to a players name.

I’m sure Micah makes excellent money with Zenit, but moreso than that he consistently says he feels safe in Kazan and the club takes great care of him any American that feels safe while in Russia itself would seem to be over confident. the most important member of a national Olympic Team and ONLY athlete that travels in Russia? ok, seems overconfident. why take that chance being that visible of an American there

Similar to FIFA's rule, athletes should be expected to be able to break contracts with a country who is waging an illegal and vile war on a fellow European country and FIVB member. Bye Russia....you have no power here. No standing and NO international support with your weak threats.
